Journal ArticleDOI

The CD4-gp120 interaction and AIDS pathogenesis

TL;DR: The CD4-gp120 interaction is an obvious target for AIDS therapeutics because it leads to progressive destruction of the CD4+ subset of T lymphocytes, resulting in immunodeficiency and AIDS.
Journal ArticleDOI

Association of Genetic Variants in NUDT15 With Thiopurine-Induced Myelosuppression in Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Gareth J. Walker, +56 more
- 26 Feb 2019 -
TL;DR: The findings suggest that NUDT15 genotyping may be considered prior to initiation of thiopurine therapy; however, further study including additional validation in independent cohorts is required.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of patients with an increased susceptibility to bacterial infections and a genetic deficiency of leukocyte membrane complement receptor type 3 and the related membrane antigen LFA-1

TL;DR: Two children from two unrelated families had a history of recurrent bacterial infections, and their neutrophils were shown to have deficient phagocytic and respiratory responses and possible deficiencies in chemotaxis or adherence, which may have been one of the reasons for their increased susceptibility to bacterial infections.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prevention of HIV-1 IIIB infection in chimpanzees by CD4 immunoadhesin.

TL;DR: It is reported that pretreatment with CD4–IgG can prevent the infection of chimpanzees with HIV-1, suggesting that it may be possible to set up an immune state in a fetus before HIV transfer occurs, thus preventing infection.

Treatment of inflammatory bowel disease with ifn-gamma inhibitors

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for the prevention or treatment of inflammatory bowel disease by administering an interferon-γ inhibitor was proposed, and pharmaceutical compositions and bispecific molecules useful in such method were discussed.
