Journal ArticleDOI

A comparative study of disc-planet interaction

TL;DR: In this article, numerical simulations of a disc-planet system using various grid-based and smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) codes are performed for a simple setup where Jupiter and Neptune mass planets on a circular orbit open a gap in a protoplanetary disc during a few hundred orbital periods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Giant Planet Migration in Viscous Power-Law Disks

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a systematic study of giant planet migration in power-law disks and find that the planetary migration rate is proportional to the disk surface density, which is inconsistent with the assumption that the migration speed is simply the viscous drift speed of the disk.
Journal ArticleDOI

The formation of crystalline dust in agb winds from binary-induced spiral shocks

TL;DR: In this paper, the shaping of an AGB wind by a binary companion provides a possible mechanism for forming crystalline dust in the orbital plane of a post-AGB star.
Journal ArticleDOI

The vertical structure of planet-induced gaps in protoplanetary discs

TL;DR: In this paper, the vertical structure of the gap edges was examined and it was found that the planet excites spiral arms with significant (Mach number of a half) vertical motion of the gas, and discussed the implications of these motions.
