Journal ArticleDOI
The argininosuccinate lyase gene of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii: an important tool for nuclear transformation and for correlating the genetic and molecular maps of the ARG7 locus.
TL;DR: Using a particle gun, a reliable nuclear transformation system has been established by complementing three mutants deficient in ASL activity with the wild‐type ASL gene and analysis of the transformants reveals variable patterns of integration of the transforming DNA into the nuclear genome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mating types and sexual development in filamentous ascomycetes.
TL;DR: Diversity of mating systems, still more apparent if the yeasts and the basidiomycetes are taken into account, clearly shows that no single species can serve as a universal mating-type model.
Journal ArticleDOI
The genome sequence of the model ascomycete fungus Podospora anserina
Eric Espagne,Olivier Lespinet,Fabienne Malagnac,Fabienne Malagnac,Corinne Da Silva,Olivier Jaillon,Betina M. Porcel,Arnaud Couloux,Jean-Marc Aury,Béatrice Segurens,Julie Poulain,Véronique Anthouard,Sandrine Grossetete,Hamid Khalili,Evelyne Coppin,Michelle Dequard-Chablat,Marguerite Picard,Véronique Contamine,Sylvie Arnaise,Anne Bourdais,Véronique Berteaux-Lecellier,Daniel Gautheret,Ronald P. de Vries,Evy Battaglia,Pedro M. Coutinho,Etienne Danchin,Bernard Henrissat,Riyad El Khoury,Annie Sainsard-Chanet,Annie Sainsard-Chanet,Antoine Boivin,Antoine Boivin,Bérangère Pinan-Lucarré,Carole H. Sellem,Robert Debuchy,Patrick Wincker,Jean Weissenbach,Philippe Silar,Philippe Silar +38 more
TL;DR: The features of the P.Anserina genome indicate a highly dynamic evolution since the divergence of P. anserina and N. crassa, leading to the ability of the former to use specific complex carbon sources that match its needs in its natural biotope.
Book ChapterDOI
Mating-Type Structure, Evolution, and Function in Euascomycetes
Robert Debuchy,B. G. Turgeon +1 more
TL;DR: The analysis of the evolution of mating types is at the beginning, focusing first on the evolutionary relationship between self-compatible and self-incompatible species from the same genus and on the target genes of the mating-type transcription factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multiple recent horizontal transfers of a large genomic region in cheese making fungi
Kevin Cheeseman,Jeanne Ropars,Pierre Renault,Joëlle Dupont,Jérôme Gouzy,Antoine Branca,Anne-Laure Abraham,Maurizio Ceppi,Emmanuel Conseiller,Robert Debuchy,Fabienne Malagnac,Anne Goarin,Philippe Silar,Sandrine Lacoste,Erika Sallet,Aaron Bensimon,Tatiana Giraud,Yves Brygoo +17 more
TL;DR: The occurrence of multiple recent eukaryotic transfers in the food environment provides strong evidence for the importance of this understudied and probably underestimated phenomenon in eukARYotes.
