Association of dietary fiber and risk of hip fracture in men from the Framingham Osteoporosis Study and the Concord Health and Ageing in Men Project.
Zhaoli Dai,Zhaoli Dai,Zhaoli Dai,Vasant Hirani,Shivani Sahni,David T. Felson,David T. Felson,Vasi Naganathan,Fiona M. Blyth,David G. Le Couteur,David J. Handelsman,Markus J. Seibel,Louise M. Waite,Douglas P. Kiel,Robert G. Cumming,Robert G. Cumming +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors found that higher intake of dietary fiber was modestly protective against loss of bone mineral density at the femoral neck in the Offspring Framingham Osteoporosis Study (FOS).
Journal ArticleDOI
Not all older men have the chronic diseases associated with severe COVID-19.
Robert G. Cumming,Saman Khalatbari-Soltani,Fiona M. Blyth,Vasi Naganathan,David G. Le Couteur +4 more
TL;DR: Onder et al. as mentioned in this paper used baseline data from the Concord Health and Ageing in Men Project (CHAMP) to describe the percentage of older Australian men who do not have any of the chronic conditions associated with more severe COVID-19, ranging from 33% of men aged 70 to 74 years down to 16% of aged 90 ≥ years.
Journal ArticleDOI
Calcium and osteoporosis
TL;DR: There is now good data to support the recommendation of calcium supplements for women in their early postmenopausal years, and the clear dose-response relationship between calcium intake and rate of hip fracture in the cohort study by Holbrook et al is good evidence for a causal association.
