Journal ArticleDOI
142 Genetic and Nongenetic Determinants of Cellular Architecture in IDH1-Mutant Oligodendrogliomas and Astrocytomas Using Single-Cell Transcriptome Analysis.
Andrew S. Venteicher,Itay Tirosh,Christine Hebert,Leah E. Escalante,Robert L. Martuza,Brian V. Nahed,William T. Curry,Daniel P. Cahill,Bradley E. Bernstein,David N. Louis,Aviv Regev,Mario L. Suvà +11 more
TL;DR: These data demonstrate that at least 2 contributions to glioma cellular architecture exist: genetic influences, as identified by mutation and chromosomal aberrations within tumor subclones, and nongenetic influences whereby progenitor-like tumor cells give rise to 2 dominant, more differentiated glial subpopulations of tumor cells, in a process akin to normal differentiation during neurodevelopment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Atypical Histopathological Features and the Risk of Treatment Failure in Nonmalignant Meningiomas: A Multi-Institutional Analysis.
Nayan Lamba,William L. Hwang,Daniel Kim,Andrzej Niemierko,Ariel E. Marciscano,William A. Mehan,Marc D. Benayoun,William T. Curry,Fred G. Barker,Robert L. Martuza,Ian F. Dunn,Elizabeth B. Claus,Wenya Linda Bi,Ayal A. Aizer,Brian M. Alexander,Kevin S. Oh,Jay S. Loeffler,Helen A. Shih +17 more
TL;DR: Increased number of atypical features, mitoses ≥4 per 10 high-power fields, subtotal resection, and lack of adjuvant radiotherapy were independently associated with progression/recurrence of WHO Grade I-II meningiomas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bilateral acoustic neurofibromatosis (neurofibromatosis 2): a disorder distinct from von Recklinghausen's neurofibromatosis (neurofibromatosis 1).
Phillip B. Flexon,Joseph B. Nadol,William W. Montgomery,Harold F. Schuknecht,Robert L. Martuza +4 more
TL;DR: The distinct clinical and genetic features of NF-2 are reviewed in the context of recent data that show it to be a disorder distinct from classic von Recklinghausen's disease (NF-1).
Journal ArticleDOI
Vestibular schwannoma: suboccipital approach
TL;DR: Microsurgery via the suboccipital approach is a common treatment option for vestibular schwannomas (VS) and the internal auditory canal is drilled and dissection of the tumor progresses.
Book ChapterDOI
Viral Oncolysis of Glioblastoma
TL;DR: It is discussed is that local viral expression of cytokines could overcome the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and lead to tumor clearance including immune clearance of distant noninfected tumor cells.
