Weighing the Risk of Drug Resistance With the Benefits of HIV Preexposure Prophylaxis

TL;DR: The article confirms that drug resistance primarily occurs if systemic HIV infection is present when PrEP is started and demonstrates how HIV develops resistance to the drug in the regimen with the lowest barrier to resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Immunity to HIV-1 is influenced by continued natural exposure to exogenous virus.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured T cell responses in 49 HIV-1 infected individuals who were on antiretroviral therapy with suppressed viral loads, and all the individuals were in a long-term sexual partnership with another infected individual, who was either also on HAART and suppressing their viral loads or viremic (> 9000 copies/ml).
