Multiple resolution (and field of view) adaptive optics: for ELTs only

TL;DR: In this paper, a multiple resolution, multiple Field of View (MOV) version of the layer oriented adaptive optics approach is proposed, where a larger field, allowing for the collection of more photons from natural stars, is used to sample the layer with a finer spatial detail, and viceversa.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

GMCAO simulation tool development.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a simulator which numerically combines the measurements of a given number of wavefront sensors, each dedicated to one reference star, to optimize the performance in the NGSs directions.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Multiple spatial frequencies wavefront sensing

TL;DR: In this article, the concept of splitting spatial frequency perturbations into some kind of pupil planes wavefront sensors was introduced and the relationship useful to determine if, by which extent, and under what kind of merit function, these devices can overperform existing conventional sensors.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

The AIV concept of SHARK-NIR, a new coronagraph for the Large Binocular Telescope

TL;DR: An overview of the opto-mechanical layout of SHARK-NIR and of the identified alignment procedure, mostly optical, planned to take place in 2018 are given.
