Channel Formation by LktA of Mannheimia (Pasteurella) haemolytica in Lipid Bilayer Membranes and Comparison of Channel Properties with Other RTX-Cytolysins

TL;DR: This study investigated channel formation by LktA in artificial lipid bilayer membranes made of different lipids and estimated the channel diameter at around 1.5 nm, which is about one tenth of the conductance of most RTX-toxins.

PoreFormation bytheEscherichia coli Hemolysin: Evidence foran Association-Dissociation

TL;DR: In membranes fromasolectin, acrudelipid mixture from soybean, hemolysin wasable toincrease theconductance by many orders ofmagnitude inasteep concentration-dependent fashion, which suggested that several hemoly sin molecules could be involved intheconductive unit, which showed that theactive hemolySin is highly sensitive tophospholipase C andmechanical forces which maydisrupt the structure of thetoxin.
