Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic value of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes in the vertical growth phase of primary cutaneous melanoma.
Claudio G. Clemente,F.A.C.P. Martin C. Mihm Jr. M.D.,Rosaria Bufalino,Stefano Zurrida,Paola Collini,Natale Cascinelli +5 more
TL;DR: In an attempt to delineate the histologic diagnostic criteria, to classify different categories of lymphocytic infiltrates, previously described by Elder et al. as brisk, nonbrisk, and absent, and to verify their prognostic significance, 285 consecutive cases of primary cutaneous melanomas are reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thin Stage I Primary Cutaneous Malignant Melanoma
Umberto Veronesi,Natale Cascinelli,Jerzy Adamus,Jerzy Adamus,Charles M. Balch,Dino Bandiera,A. Barchuk,Rosaria Bufalino,Peter Craig,Jaime de Marsillac,J. Durand,A. N. Van Geel,Hans Holmstrom,Ole G. Jorgensen,Bela Kiss,B. B. R. Kroon,E. A. van Slooten,Jean Lacour,Ferdy J. Lejeune,Rona M. MacKie,Zdenek Mechl,G. Mitrov,Alberto Morabito,Henryk Nosek,R. Panizzon,M. Prade,Pierluigi Santi,Radmilo Tomin,Nikolaj Trapeznikov,Tsanko Tsanov,Marshall M. Urist,K. D. Wozniak +31 more
TL;DR: The absence ofLocal recurrence in the group of patients with a primary melanoma thinner than 1 mm and the very low rate of local recurrences indicate that narrow excision is a safe and effective procedure for such patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognosis of breast cancer patients after mastectomy and dissection of internal mammary nodes.
Umberto Veronesi,Natale Cascinelli,Marco Greco,Rosaria Bufalino,Alberto Morabito,Domenico Galluzzo,R Conti,R De Lellis,V Delle Donne,Patrizia Piotti +9 more
TL;DR: Information on the presence or absence of internal mammary node metastases would be of great importance in formulating the prognosis of breast cancer patients and a biopsy at the first intercostal space may be reasonable in selected patients as long as noninvasive methods of diagnosis are available.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic significance of HER-2/NEU expression in breast cancer and its relationship to other prognostic factors
Franco Rilke,Maria I. Colnaghi,Natale Cascinelli,Salvatore Andreola,M T Baldini,Rosaria Bufalino,G. Della Porta,Sylvie Ménard,M. A. Pierotti,A Testori +9 more
TL;DR: Over‐expression of p 185 was found to be related to tumor size and grade and to LPI but not to pathologic nodal status, and showed the same correlation with a poor prognosis as in node‐positive patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
A randomized trial of adjuvant chemotherapy and immunotherapy in cutaneous melanoma
Umberto Veronesi,Jerzy Adamus,C. Aubert,Emilio Bajetta,G. Beretta,G. Bonadonna,Rosaria Bufalino,Natale Cascinelli,G. Cocconi,J. Durand,J. De Marsillac,R. L. Ikonopisov,B. Kiss,Ferdy J. Lejeune,Rona M. MacKie,G. Madej,H. Mulder,Z. Mechl,G. W. Milton,Alberto Morabito,H. Peter,J. Priario,E. Paul,P. Rumke,R. Sertoli,R. Tomin +25 more
TL;DR: In a randomized trial of adjuvant chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or immunochemotherapy, 761 evaluable patients with pathological Stage II cutaneous melanoma anywhere on the body or with pathological stages I melanoma of the trunk were studied by the World Health Organization International Melanoma Group.
