Journal ArticleDOI
Predicting prognosis using molecular profiling in estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer treated with tamoxifen.
Sherene Loi,Benjamin Haibe-Kains,Christine Desmedt,Pratyaksha Wirapati,Françoise Lallemand,Andrew Tutt,Cheryl Gillet,Paul Ellis,Kenneth Ryder,James F. Reid,Maria Grazia Daidone,M. A. Pierotti,Els M.J.J. Berns,Maurice P.H.M. Jansen,John A. Foekens,Mauro Delorenzi,Gianluca Bontempi,Martine Piccart,Christos Sotiriou +18 more
TL;DR: A gene classifier that can predict clinical outcome in tamoxifen-treated ER+ BC patients is developed and other genes and pathways that may elucidate further mechanisms that influence clinical outcome and prediction of response to tamoxIFen are proposed.
Journal Article
High frequency of activation of tyrosine kinase oncogenes in human papillary thyroid carcinoma.
Italia Bongarzone,M. A. Pierotti,N Monzini,Piera Mondellini,Giacomo Manenti,R. Donghi,Silvana Pilotti,M. Grieco,M Santoro,Alfredo Fusco +9 more
TL;DR: Since both PTC, a novel rearranged form of RET, and TRK display a tyrosine protein kinase activity, it is proposed that the activation of this class of oncogenes is specifically involved in the pathogenesis of papillary thyroid cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic significance of HER-2/NEU expression in breast cancer and its relationship to other prognostic factors
Franco Rilke,Maria I. Colnaghi,Natale Cascinelli,Salvatore Andreola,M T Baldini,Rosaria Bufalino,G. Della Porta,Sylvie Ménard,M. A. Pierotti,A Testori +9 more
TL;DR: Over‐expression of p 185 was found to be related to tumor size and grade and to LPI but not to pathologic nodal status, and showed the same correlation with a poor prognosis as in node‐positive patients.
Journal Article
Deletions of 17p and p53 mutations in preneoplastic lesions of the lung.
Gabriella Sozzi,Monica Miozzo,R. Donghi,S. Pilotti,C.T. Cariani,Ugo Pastorino,G. Della Porta,M. A. Pierotti +7 more
TL;DR: Cytogenetic and p53 mutation analysis in two cases of severe dysplasia of the bronchial epithelium in lung cancer patients and p 53 immunostaining in a third one indicates that changes may take place early in the process of lung carcinogenesis.
Journal Article
TRK-T1 is a novel oncogene formed by the fusion of TPR and TRK genes in human papillary thyroid carcinomas.
TL;DR: The isolation and characterization of one of the thyroid TRK oncogenes, designated TRK-T1 is described, which is created by an intrachromosomal rearrangement that juxtaposes the 5' end of the TPR gene to the TRK tyrosine kinase domain.
