Persistence of increased cardiovascular risk in patients with Cushing's disease after five years of successful cure.
Annamaria Colao,Rosario Pivonello,Stefano Spiezia,Antongiulio Faggiano,Diego Ferone,Mariagiovanna Filippella,Paolo Marzullo,G. Cerbone,M. Siciliani,Gaetano Lombardi +9 more
TL;DR: In conclusion, patients with Cushing's disease still have increased cardiovascular risk and suffer from premature atherosclerosis once cured, and patients was probably due to residual abdominal a long term period of WHR, which was inversely correlated to the duration of CD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Complications of Cushing's syndrome: state of the art
Rosario Pivonello,Andrea M. Isidori,Maria Cristina De Martino,John Newell-Price,John Newell-Price,Beverly M. K. Biller,Annamaria Colao +6 more
TL;DR: Cushing's syndrome is a serious endocrine disease caused by chronic, autonomous, and excessive secretion of cortisol, which is associated with increased mortality and impaired quality of life because of the occurrence of comorbidities as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiovascular risk factors and common carotid artery caliber and stiffness in patients with Cushing's disease during active disease and 1 year after disease remission.
Antongiulio Faggiano,Rosario Pivonello,Stefano Spiezia,Maria Cristina De Martino,Mariagiovanna Filippella,Carolina Di Somma,Gaetano Lombardi,Annamaria Colao +7 more
TL;DR: The persistence of a metabolic syndrome, vascular damage, and atherosclerotic plaques after cortisol level normalization makes patients with Cushing's disease still at high cardiovascular risk despite disease remission, according to this prospective study.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Treatment of Cushing's Disease
TL;DR: Recent experience suggests that the combination of different drugs may be able to control cortisol excess in a great majority of patients with Cushing's syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Medical Treatment of Cushing’s Disease: Effectiveness of Chronic Treatment with the Dopamine Agonist Cabergoline in Patients Unsuccessfully Treated by Surgery
