TL;DR: In this paper, a silicon microring modulator with a 1 V drive voltage was presented to achieve a 6.8 dB modulation depth at 10 Gbps, which enabled the modulator to be directly driven by CMOS electronics.

TL;DR: In this article, a grating coupler for use on a 3 µm device layer SOI platform by employing a two-stage taper was demonstrated and the measured radiation efficiency was 75% and simulations show output as high as 86%.
