Journal ArticleDOI
Syk- and CARD9-dependent coupling of innate immunity to the induction of T helper cells that produce interleukin 17.
Salomé LeibundGut-Landmann,Olaf Groß,Matthew J. Robinson,Fabiola Osorio,Emma C Slack,Emma C Slack,S. Vicky Tsoni,Edina Schweighoffer,Victor L. J. Tybulewicz,Gordon D. Brown,Jürgen Ruland,Caetano Reis e Sousa +11 more
TL;DR: It is shown that dectin-1–Syk–CARD9 signaling induced DC maturation and the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines, including IL-6, tumor necrosis factor and IL-23, but little IL-12.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dectin-1 is required for beta-glucan recognition and control of fungal infection.
Philip R. Taylor,S. Vicky Tsoni,Janet A. Willment,Kevin M. Dennehy,Marcela Rosas,Helen Findon,Ken Haynes,Chad Steele,Marina Botto,Siamon Gordon,Gordon D. Brown +10 more
TL;DR: It is shown that deficiency of dectin-1, the myeloid receptor for β-glucan, rendered mice susceptible to infection with Candida albicans, and a signaling non–Toll-like pattern-recognition receptor required for the induction of protective immune responses is established.
Journal ArticleDOI
Syk kinase is required for collaborative cytokine production induced through Dectin-1 and Toll-like receptors.
Kevin M. Dennehy,Gerben Ferwerda,Inês Faro-Trindade,Elwira Pyz,Janet A. Willment,Philip R. Taylor,Philip R. Taylor,Ann M. Kerrigan,S. Vicky Tsoni,Siamon Gordon,Friederike Meyer-Wentrup,Gosse J. Adema,Bart Jan Kullberg,Edina Schweighoffer,Victor L. J. Tybulewicz,Héctor M. Mora-Montes,Neil A. R. Gow,David L. Williams,Mihai G. Netea,Gordon D. Brown +19 more
TL;DR: These findings establish the first example of Syk‐ and MyD88‐coupled PRR collaboration, further supporting the concept that paired receptors collaborate to control infectious agents.
Journal ArticleDOI
β‐Glucans and Dectin‐1
S. Vicky Tsoni,Gordon D. Brown +1 more
TL;DR: The characterization of dectin‐1 has revealed some of the processes involved in β‐glucan sensing, intracellular signaling, and induction of cellular responses and has provided new insights into the role of β‐ glucans in immunity and disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Soluble Dectin-1 as a tool to detect beta-glucans.
Lisa M. Graham,S. Vicky Tsoni,Janet A. Willment,David L. Williams,Philip R. Taylor,Siamon Gordon,Kevin M. Dennehy,Gordon D. Brown +7 more
TL;DR: A soluble chimeric form of the major mammalian β-glucan receptor, Dectin-1, is developed and its application for the detection and characterisation of soluble and insoluble β-Glucans, including fungal particles, is demonstrated using ELISA, flow cytometric and fluorescence-based microscopy assays.
