TL;DR: Diagnostic and surveillance technologies for SARS-CoV-2 and their performance characteristics are described and point-of-care diagnostics that are on the horizon are described to encourage academics to advance their technologies beyond conception.
Journal ArticleDOI
Persistence of serum and saliva antibody responses to SARS-CoV-2 spike antigens in COVID-19 patients.

TL;DR: It is confirmed that serum and saliva IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 are maintained in the majority of COVID-19 patients for at least 3 months PSO, and IgG responses in saliva may serve as a surrogate measure of systemic immunity to Sars-Cov-2 based on their correlation with serum IgG responds.
Journal ArticleDOI
High Temperature (30°C) Blocks Aerosol but Not Contact Transmission of Influenza Virus
TL;DR: The lack of aerosol transmission at 30°C and at all humidities tested implies that contact or short-range spread predominates in the tropics and offers an explanation for the lack of a well-defined, recurrent influenza season affecting tropical and subtropical regions of the world.
Journal ArticleDOI
Audit and feedback to reduce broad-spectrum antibiotic use among intensive care unit patients: a controlled interrupted time series analysis.
Marion Elligsen,Sandra A N Walker,Ruxandra Pinto,Andrew E. Simor,Samira Mubareka,Anita Rachlis,Vanessa Allen,Nick Daneman +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the impact of prospective audit and feedback on broad-spectrum antimicrobial use among critical care patients, and found that broad spectrum antibiotic use decreased from 644 days of therapy per 1,000 patient-days in the preintervention period to 503 days of antibiotic therapy per 1000 patient-day in the postintervention periods (P <.0001).
Journal ArticleDOI
Sensitivity of Nasopharyngeal Swabs and Saliva for the Detection of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2.
Alainna J Jamal,Mohammad Mozafarihashjin,Eric A. Coomes,Jeff Powis,Angel X Li,Aimee Paterson,Sofia Anceva-Sami,Shiva Barati,Gloria Crowl,Amna Faheem,Lubna Farooqi,Saman Khan,Karren Prost,Susan M. Poutanen,Maureen T. Taylor,Lily Yip,Xi Zoe Zhong,Allison McGeer,Samira Mubareka,Samira Mubareka +19 more
TL;DR: This data indicates that difference in sensitivity was greatest for sample pairs collected later in illness, and COVID-19 was recommended as a first line treatment for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2.
