TL;DR: Isopropylidenation of dl -(1,2/3,4,5)-5-hydroxymethyl-1, 2, 3, 4, 5)-cyclohexanetetrol with 2,2-dimethoxypropane in N,N -dimethylformamide in the presence of toluene-p -sulfonic acid gave the 1,2:3, 4-, 1, 2:4,7-, and 2,3: 4,7-di- O -isopropylon derivatives as mentioned in this paper.

Synthetic Studies on the Validamycins. II. Synthesis of 1L-1-O-(β-D-Glucopyranosyl)-(1,3,4/2,6)-4-amino-6-hydroxymethyl-1,2,3-cyclohexanetriol

TL;DR: In this paper, a β-D-glucopyranoside was synthesized via an unequivocal route and found to be identical with β-dglucophyranosylvalidamine derived from antibiotic validamycin A. The position at which the validamine moiety is substituted with D-glocopyranose in validamcin A was revised to C-1 on the basis of the present synthesis.
