Journal ArticleDOI
An update on β-sitosterol: A potential herbal nutraceutical for diabetic management
TL;DR: The experimental studies on SIT gives a clear evidence that the potential phytosterol can be used as supplements to fight against life threatening diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Beta-sitosterol attenuates insulin resistance in adipose tissue via IRS-1/Akt mediated insulin signaling in high fat diet and sucrose induced type-2 diabetic rats.
Shyamaladevi Babu,Madhan Krishnan,Ponnulakshmi Rajagopal,Vijayalakshmi Periyasamy,Vishnupriya Veeraraghavan,Ramajayam Govindan,Selvaraj Jayaraman +6 more
TL;DR: SIT possesses the greater binding affinity with β-arrestin-2, c-Src, and IRS-1 as well as Akt proteins and proved to attenuate insulin resistance as this study coincides with in vivo findings.
Journal ArticleDOI
Liquid biopsy: Exosomal microRNAs as novel diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in cancer
K. Preethi,Sushmaa Chandralekha Selvakumar,K Rossi,Selvaraj Jayaraman,Deusdedit Tusubira,Durairaj Sekar +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a review of exosomal miRNAs (liquid biopsy) as biomarkers in the diagnosis and prognosis of various cancers is presented. But the authors focus on the use of liquid biopsies as a supplement to biopsy, as it enables disease progression to be detected months before clinical and radiographic confirmation.

β-Sitosterol Circumvents Obesity Induced Inflammation and Insulin Resistance by down-Regulating IKKβ/NF-κB and JNK Signaling Pathway in Adipocytes of Type 2 Diabetic Rats.
Selvaraj Jayaraman,Nalini Devarajan,Ponnulakshmi Rajagopal,Shyamaladevi Babu,Senthil Kumar Ganesan,Vishnu Priya Veeraraghavan,Chella Perumal Palanisamy,Bo Cui,Vijayalakshmi Periyasamy,Kirubhanand Chandrasekar +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, β-sitosterol (SIT) is used as an antidiabetic drug to circumventing adipocyte induced inflammation, a key driving factor for insulin resistance in obese individuals.
