An automated breast ultrasound scanner with integrated photoacoustic tomography

TL;DR: This work is moving towards a fiber-based, localized illumination geometry which is fixed relative to the transducer, and reduces overall light exposure at the tissue surface, allowing higher light intensity per acquisition and allowing higher absorber contrast, while remaining below safe exposure thresholds.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Adaptive image servo controller for robot-assisted diagnostic ultrasound

TL;DR: In this article, an adaptive image servo controller is proposed to enhance the performance of the ultrasound image servos controller to increase safety, the control is shared between the operator and the image controller.

Quantitative elastography with tracked 2D ultrasound transducers

TL;DR: In this article, a method for acquiring 3D quantitative ultrasound elastography volumes is described, which comprises using a 2D ultrasound transducer to scan a volume of tissue through which shear waves are created using an external vibration source, the synchronized measurement of tissue motion within the plane of the ultrasound transducers with the measurement of the transducers location in space, the reconstruction of tissue displacements in time and space over a volume from this synchronized measurement, and the computation of one or several mechanical properties of tissue from this volumetric measurement of displacements.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Robot-assisted Image Guidance for Prostate Nerve-sparing Surgery

TL;DR: A novel robot-assisted photoacoustic imaging was developed to intra-operatively visualize the nerve network and is capable of providing real-time images which is vital for the intra-operative use.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Coarse-fine residual gravity cancellation system with magnetic levitation

TL;DR: A six degree-of-freedom active experiment isolation system designed to cancel out residual accelerations during zero-gravity parabolic flights is described and feasibility experiments using a PUMA 500 and a magnetically levitated robot wrist are discussed.
