Journal ArticleDOI

Heterogeneity and Temporal Dynamics of Evolution of G1 Human Rotaviruses in a Settled Population

TL;DR: Investigation of the heterogeneity and the dynamics of evolution of G1 rotavirus strains in a geographically defined population revealed that the older strains were associated with a unique VP4 lineage, while a novelVP4 lineage emerged after 1995.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relationships among porcine and human P[6] rotaviruses: Evidence that the different human P[6] lineages have originated from multiple interspecies transmission events

TL;DR: Findings strongly suggest interspecies transmission of rotavirus strains and/or genes, and may indicate the occurrence of at least 3 separate rotav virus transmission events between pigs and humans, providing convincing evidence that evolution of human rotaviruses is tightly intermingled with the evolution of animal rotavIRuses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of a novel VP4 genotype carried by a serotype G5 porcine rotavirus strain

TL;DR: Results indicate that the PoRV strain 134/04-15 should be considered as prototype of a new VP4 genotype, P[26], and provide further evidence for the vast genetic and antigenic diversity of group A rotaviruses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Norovirus in captive lion cub (Panthera leo).

TL;DR: The identification of a novel enteric calicivirus, genetically related to human noroviruses of genogroup IV, in a lion cub that died of severe hemorrhagic enteritis is reported.
