Abstract: There is a need to rethink and redefine the social value added of entrepreneurial activities to society. In this paper we develop five pillars on which the evolving social role of entrepreneurship can rest and have its impact: (1) connecting entrepreneurial activities to other societal efforts aimed at improving the quality of life, achieving progress, and enriching human existence, (2) identifying ways to reduce the dysfunctional effects of entrepreneurial activities on stakeholders, (3) redefining the scope of entrepreneurial activities as a scholarly arena, (4) recognizing entrepreneurship's social multiplier, and (5) pursuing blended value at the organizational level, centring on balancing the creation of financial, social and environmental wealth. In a final section we discuss implications for practices and for further research.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors highlight the importance of state funding for research and state protection of intellectual property (IP), and illustrate how interactions between these two dimensions of technology policy influence (1) the corporate entrepreneurship (CE) strategies through which firms innovate and adapt, and (2) the political strategies that they attempt to influence and secure the benefits of technology policies.
Abstract: Technology policy influences the incentives and opportunities firms have to innovate and adapt to changing environments and thus has important implications for strategy and entrepreneurship. However, to date, strategy and entrepreneurship scholars have paid insufficient attention to technology policy. We underscore the importance of two dimensions of technology policy: (1) state funding for research and (2) state protection of intellectual property (IP). We then illustrate how interactions between these two dimensions of technology policy influence (1) the corporate entrepreneurship (CE) strategies through which firms innovate and adapt and (2) the political strategies through which they attempt to influence and secure the benefits of technology policy. Given differences in the goals, incentives, capabilities, and relative power among the various players affected by technology policy, our discussion contributes to a more thorough understanding of the dynamic interplay between government institutions and f...

Abstract: This paper provides an overview of the human resource management implications associated with the rise of right-wing populism. Our perspective is based on a review of the managerial, policy, and academic literature. We highlight some of the potentially negative human resource management consequences for markets in the U.K., U.S., and around the world that result from declines in social protection, a rise in racism, a decline in diversity or acceptance of diversity, as well as barriers to the mobility of labour, immigration, and trade, among other problems.

TL;DR: In this article, a recent article by Wright highlights the increased interest in organizational behavior and dynamics in Moslem countries, but Moslem scholars have thus far failed to communicate their ideas to their colleagues in the West, due to the absence of a dialogue between the two groups.
Abstract: A recent article by Wright** in this Review highlights the increased interest in organizational behavior and dynamics in Moslem countries. The issue itself is a complicated one since it evokes religious feelings and, perhaps, biases. Furthermore, it demands thorough understanding of Islamic theology and required appreciation of the impacts of cultural and historical forces on shaping Moslem behavior. Meanwhile, Moslem scholars have thus far failed to communicate their ideas to their colleagues in the West. This is due, in part, to the absence of a dialogue between the two groups. However, the major reason lies in the fact that existing wide divergence of opinions among Moslem theologians handicap any attempt towards creative synthesis of Islamic "principles". In addition, the decline of scholarship in many Moslem centers of research makes it difficult for this dialogue to start. In fact, Moslems "have so far
