Journal ArticleDOI
Potential role of signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT)3 signaling pathway in inflammation, survival, proliferation and invasion of hepatocellular carcinoma.
Aruljothi Subramaniam,Muthu K. Shanmugam,Ekambaram Perumal,Feng Li,Alamelu Nachiyappan,Xiaoyun Dai,Shivananju Nanjunda Swamy,Kwang Seok Ahn,Alan Prem Kumar,B. K. H. Tan,Kam M. Hui,Gautam Sethi +11 more
TL;DR: The possible role of STAT3 signaling cascade and its interacting partners in the initiation of HCC is discussed and the role of various STAT3 regulated genes in HCC progression, inflammation, survival, invasion and angiogenesis is analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Plumbagin inhibits invasion and migration of breast and gastric cancer cells by downregulating the expression of chemokine receptor CXCR4
Kanjoormana Aryan Manu,Muthu K. Shanmugam,Peramaiyan Rajendran,Feng Li,Lalitha Ramachandran,Hui Sin Hay,Radhamani Kannaiyan,Shivananju Nanjunda Swamy,Shireen Vali,Shweta Kapoor,Bhargavi Ramesh,Pradeep Bist,Evelyn Siew-Chuan Koay,Lina H. K. Lim,Kwang Seok Ahn,Alan Prem Kumar,Alan Prem Kumar,Gautam Sethi +17 more
TL;DR: Investigation of the potential of an agent, plumbagin, for its ability to modulate CXCR4 expression and function in various tumor cells shows that it is a novel blocker of CX CR4 Expression and thus has the potential to suppress metastasis of cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neutralization of Haemorrhagic Activity of Viper Venoms by 1‐(3‐Dimethylaminopropyl)‐1‐(4‐Fluorophenyl)‐3‐Oxo‐1,3‐Dihydroisobenzofuran‐5‐Carbonitrile
Kabburalli Sunitha,Mahadevappa Hemshekhar,Santosh L. Gaonkar,Martin Sebastin Santhosh,Muthuvel Suresh Kumar,Basappa,B. S. Priya,Kempaiah Kemparaju,Kanchugarakoppal S. Rangappa,Shivananju Nanjunda Swamy,Kesturu S. Girish +10 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the clinically approved inhibitors of haemorrhagins could be used as a potent first-aid agent in snakebite management and high degree of structural and functional homology between SVMPs and their relatives, the MMPs suggests that DFD analogues may find immense value in the regulation of multifactorial pathological conditions like inflammation, cancer and wound healing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and characterization of novel 1,2-oxazine-based small molecules that targets acetylcholinesterase.
Alexey Yu. Sukhorukov,Anilkumar C. Nirvanappa,Jagadish Swamy,Sema L. Ioffe,Shivananju Nanjunda Swamy,Basappa,Kanchugarakoppal S. Rangappa +6 more
TL;DR: Initial pharmacological data revealed that the compound 2a could serve as a drug-seed in developing anti-Alzheimer's agents, suggesting a potential ability to penetrate the blood-brain-barrier.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and biological evaluation of tetrahydropyridinepyrazoles (‘PFPs’) as inhibitors of STAT3 phosphorylation
Revanna C. N,Basappa,Srinivasa,Feng Li,Kodappully Sivaraman Siveen,Xiaoyun Dai,Shivananju Nanjunda Swamy,Bhadregowda D. G,Gautam Sethi,Kempegowda Mantelingu,Andreas Bender,Kanchugarakoppal S. Rangappa +11 more
TL;DR: The synthesis and biological evaluation of a novel chemotype, pyridine-fused pyrazoles (‘PFPs’) as inhibitors of STAT3 phosphorylation are described, establishing for this structure a complete inhibition of CXCL12-induced cell invasion and associated wound healing in HCCLM3 cells, corroborating the proposed modulation of the STAT3 axis by 12g.
