Journal ArticleDOI
Contact-dependent stimulation and inhibition of dendritic cells by natural killer cells.
TL;DR: It is shown that contact-dependent interactions between activated human NK cells and immature DCs (iDCs) provides a “control switch” for the immune system at low NK/DC ratios, which dramatically amplifies DC responses, whereas at high ratios it completely turns off their responses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Blood M2-like Monocyte Polarization Is Associated with Calcific Plaque Phenotype in Stable Coronary Artery Disease: A Sub-Study of SMARTool Clinical Trial
Silverio Sbrana,Antonella Cecchettini,Luca Bastiani,N. Di Giorgi,Annamaria Mazzone,Elisa Ceccherini,Federico Vozzi,Chiara Castelli,Danilo Neglia,Alberto Clemente,Arthur J.H.A. Scholte,Oberdan Parodi,Gualtiero Pelosi,Silvia Rocchiccioli +13 more
TL;DR: The association between DCV and M2-like phenotypic polarization of circulating monocytes indicates that plaque macro-calcification in stable CAD may be partly modulated by an anti-inflammatory monocyte functional state, as evidenced by cell membrane receptor patterns.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of Circulating Neutrophils with Relative Volume of Lipid-Rich Necrotic Core of Coronary Plaques in Stable Patients: A Substudy of SMARTool European Project
Silverio Sbrana,Antonella Cecchettini,Luca Bastiani,Annamaria Mazzone,Federico Vozzi,Chiara Castelli,Danilo Neglia,Alberto Clemente,Arthur J.H.A. Scholte,Oberdan Parodi,Gualtiero Pelosi,Silvia Rocchiccioli +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors evaluated whether blood neutrophil number and phenotype have an association with lipid-rich necrotic core volume (LRNCV), a generic index of coronary plaque vulnerability, in a group of stable patients with chronic coronary syndrome (CCS).
Journal ArticleDOI
The Positive Impact of Early Frailty Levels on Mortality in Elderly Patients with Severe Aortic Stenosis Undergoing Transcatheter/Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement
Annamaria Mazzone,Serena Del Turco,Giuseppe Trianni,P. Quadrelli,Marco Marotta,Luca Bastiani,Tommaso Gasbarri,Andreina D'Agostino,Massimiliano Mariani,Giuseppina Basta,Ilenia Foffa,Silverio Sbrana,Cristina Vassalle,Marcello Ravani,Marco Solinas,Sergio Berti +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors evaluated outcomes in older severe aortic valve stenosis (AS) pts, selected by a multidisciplinary approach for surgical, clinical, and geriatric risk and referred to treatment, according to frailty levels.
