Journal Article
Estrogen receptor gene disruption: molecular characterization and experimental and clinical phenotypes.
Kenneth S. Korach,John F. Couse,Sylvia W. Curtis,Todd F. Washburn,Jonathan Lindzey,Kimbro Ks,Edward M. Eddy,Silvia Migliaccio,S.M. Snedeker,Dennis B. Lubahn,David W. Schomberg,Eric P. Smith +11 more
TL;DR: Findings from the patient and mice suggest that the absence of functional ER is not lethal, and a single patient is described who is homozygous for a point mutation in the human ER gene at codon 157, which results in estrogen insensitivity syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Using concept mapping in the development of the EU-PAD framework (EUropean-Physical Activity Determinants across the life course): a DEDIPAC-study
Giancarlo Condello,Fiona Chun Man Ling,Fiona Chun Man Ling,Antonino Bianco,Sebastien F. M. Chastin,Greet Cardon,Donatella Ciarapica,Daniele Conte,Cristina Cortis,Marieke De Craemer,Andrea Di Blasio,Masar Gjaka,Sylvia Hansen,Michelle Holdsworth,Licia Iacoviello,Pascal Izzicupo,Lina Jaeschke,Liliana Leone,Livia Manoni,Cristina Menescardi,Silvia Migliaccio,Julie Anne Nazare,Camille Perchoux,Caterina Pesce,Frank H. Pierik,Tobias Pischon,Angela Polito,Anna Puggina,Alessandra Sannella,Wolfgang Schlicht,Holger Schulz,Chantal Simon,Astrid Steinbrecher,Ciaran MacDonncha,Laura Capranica +34 more
TL;DR: The current framework provides a preliminary overview of factors which may account for PA behaviour across the life course and are most relevant to the European community.
Journal ArticleDOI
Decreased C-Src Expression Enhances Osteoblast Differentiation and Bone Formation
Marilena Marzia,Natalie A. Sims,Susanne Voit,Silvia Migliaccio,Silvia Migliaccio,Anna Taranta,Silvia Bernardini,Tullio Faraggiana,Toshiyuki Yoneda,Gregory R. Mundy,Brendan F. Boyce,Roland Baron,Anna Teti +12 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the reduction of Src expression not only inhibits bone resorption, but also stimulates osteoblast differentiation and bone formation, suggesting that the osteogenic cells may contribute to the development of the osteopetrotic phenotype in Src-deficient mice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Is obesity protective for osteoporosis? Evaluation of bone mineral density in individuals with high body mass index
Emanuela A. Greco,Rachele Fornari,Fabio Rossi,V. Santiemma,Giancarlo Prossomariti,C. Annoscia,Antonio Aversa,Marina Brama,Mario Marini,Lorenzo M. Donini,Giovanni Spera,Andrea Lenzi,Carla Lubrano,Silvia Migliaccio +13 more
TL;DR: Bone mineral density (BMD) is characterised in overweight and obese patients with known comorbidities and appears to be protected against the development of osteoporosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical, genetic, and cellular analysis of 49 osteopetrotic patients: implications for diagnosis and treatment
A. Del Fattore,Barbara Peruzzi,Nadia Rucci,Irene Recchia,Alfredo Cappariello,Maurizio Longo,Dario Fortunati,Paola Ballanti,Metello Iacobini,Matteo Luciani,R. Devito,Rita Maria Pinto,Maurizio Caniglia,Edoardo Lanino,Chiara Messina,Simone Cesaro,Claudio Letizia,G. Bianchini,Helen Fryssira,Peter Grabowski,N. Shaw,Nick Bishop,David J. Hughes,R. P. Kapur,H. K. Datta,Anna Taranta,Rachele Fornari,Silvia Migliaccio,Anna Teti +28 more
TL;DR: Findings provide a rationale for novel therapies targeting pH handling mechanisms in osteoclasts and their microenvironment.
