Journal ArticleDOI

Osteoblast and osteocyte: games without frontiers.

TL;DR: The portrait of osteoblasts and osteocytes has been subjected to a revision, since a large body of evidence is attributing these cells amazing roles both inside and outside the bone.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impaired skeletal development in interleukin-6-transgenic mice: a model for the impact of chronic inflammation on the growing skeletal system.

TL;DR: Chronic overexpression of IL-6 alone induces a skeletal phenotype closely resembling growth and skeletal abnormalities observed in children with chronic inflammatory diseases, pointing to IL- 6 as a pivotal mediator of the impact of chronic inflammation on postnatal skeletal development.
Journal ArticleDOI

TrkA alternative splicing: A regulated tumor-promoting switch in human neuroblastoma

TL;DR: A novel alternative TrkA splice variant with deletion of exons 6, 7, and 9 and functional extracellular IG-C1 and N-glycosylation domains is identified that exhibits expression restricted to undifferentiated early neural progenitors, human neuroblastomas (NBs), and a subset of other neural crest-derived tumors.
Journal ArticleDOI

A six-gene signature predicting breast cancer lung metastasis.

TL;DR: It is shown that the gene expression profiles of organ-specific metastatic lesions can be used to predict lung metastasis in breast cancer and improves risk stratification independently of known standard clinical variables and a previously established lung metastases signature based on an experimental breast cancer metastasis model.
