Oxygen redox chemistry without excess alkali-metal ions in Na2/3[Mg0.28Mn0.72]O2

TL;DR: Na2/3[Mg0.28Mn0.72]O2 exhibits an excess capacity and it is shown that this is caused by oxygen redox, even though Mg2+ resides in the TM layers rather than alkali-metal (AM) ions, which demonstrates that excess AM ions are not required to activate oxygenRedox.
Journal ArticleDOI

B18: A core XAS spectroscopy beamline for Diamond

TL;DR: The B18 as discussed by the authors is a general purpose XAS beamline on diamond, with a monochromator designed to carry out both conventional and QEXAFS measurements, where the low and high energy optic branches will run in parallel and the appropriate branch for a given experiment will be selected by changing the position of the slits, instead of by moving the optical elements.
Journal ArticleDOI

X-ray and neutron scattering studies of the hydration structure of alkali ions in concentrated aqueous solutions.

TL;DR: It will be shown how the 'difference' methods of neutron diffraction with isotopic substitution (NDIS) and anomalous X-ray diffraction (AXD) can be used to obtain direct information regarding the radial pair distribution functions of many cations and anions in solution.
