Journal ArticleDOI
Meta-analysis of neuropsychological measures of executive functioning in children and adolescents with high-functioning autism spectrum disorder.
Chun Lun Eric Lai,Zoe Lau,Simon S.Y. Lui,Eugenia Lok,Venus Fung Ling Tam,Quinney Chan,Koi Man Cheng,Siu Man Lam,Eric F.C. Cheung +8 more
TL;DR: The presence of executive dysfunction in children and adolescents with HFASD is confirmed and deficits are not solely accounted for by the effect of comorbid ADHD and the general cognitive abilities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neurological soft signs are not "soft" in brain structure and functional networks: evidence from ALE meta-analysis.
Qing Zhao,Zhi Li,Jia Huang,Chao Yan,Paola Dazzan,Christos Pantelis,Eric F.C. Cheung,Simon S.Y. Lui,Simon S.Y. Lui,Raymond C.K. Chan +9 more
TL;DR: The findings from both sMRI and fMRI meta-analyses further support the conceptualization of NSS as a manifestation of the "cerebello-thalamo-prefrontal" brain network model of schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term effects of discontinuation from antipsychotic maintenance following first-episode schizophrenia and related disorders: a 10 year follow-up of a randomised, double-blind trial
Christy L.M. Hui,William G. Honer,Edwin Ho Ming Lee,Wing Chung Chang,Sherry Kit Wa Chan,Emily S. M. Chen,Edwin P F Pang,Simon S.Y. Lui,Dicky W.S. Chung,WS Yeung,Roger M. K. Ng,William Tak-Lam Lo,Peter B. Jones,Pak C. Sham,Eric Y.H. Chen +14 more
TL;DR: In patients with first-episode psychosis with a full initial response to treatment, medication continuation for at least the first 3 years after starting treatment decreases the risk of relapse and poor long-term clinical outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Brain structural abnormalities in obsessive-compulsive disorder: converging evidence from white matter and grey matter.
Ziwen Peng,Simon S.Y. Lui,Simon S.Y. Lui,Eric F.C. Cheung,Zhen Jin,Guo-dong Miao,Jin Jing,Raymond C.K. Chan +7 more
TL;DR: Significant structural abnormalities of cortico-striato-thalamic circuits in OCD are confirmed by a SDM meta-analysis on grey matter and white matter studies of patients with OCD based on voxel-based morphometry studies and diffusion tensor imaging studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neurological soft signs discriminate schizophrenia from major depression but not bipolar disorder
Qing Zhao,Yan-tao Ma,Simon S.Y. Lui,Wen-hua Liu,Ting Xu,Xin Yu,Shuping Tan,Zhi-ren Wang,Miao Qu,Ya Wang,Jia Huang,Eric F.C. Cheung,Paola Dazzan,Raymond C.K. Chan +13 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that NSS, especially motor-coordination signs, can differentiate schizophrenia from major depression but not bipolar disorder, and may provide further evidence to support the similarity between schizophrenia and bipolar disorder from the dimension of behavioral expression.
