Journal ArticleDOI
Immunotherapeutic Blockade of Macrophage Clever-1 Reactivates the CD8+ T Cell Response Against Immunosuppressive Tumors
TL;DR: Findings demonstrate the importance of macrophages in mediating antitumor immune responses and support the clinical evaluation of immunotherapeutic Clever-1 blockade as a novel cancer treatment strategy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lymphatic Endothelial Cell Activation and Dendritic Cell Transmigration Is Modified by Genetic Deletion of Clever-1.
Sina Tadayon,Johannes Dunkel,Akira Takeda,Dominik Eichin,Reetta Virtakoivu,Kati Elima,Sirpa Jalkanen,Maija Hollmén +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrated that Clever-1 is immunosuppressive towards migrating dendritic cells and thus regulates the magnitude of immune responses created by incoming DCs in the draining lymph nodes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clever-1 contributes to lymphocyte entry into the spleen via the red pulp.
Sina Tadayon,Johannes Dunkel,Akira Takeda,Olga Halle,Marika Karikoski,Heidi Gerke,Pia Rantakari,Reetta Virtakoivu,Oliver Pabst,Marko Salmi,Maija Hollmén,Sirpa Jalkanen +11 more
TL;DR: It is shown that lymphocytes enter the spleen preferentially from vessels in the red pulp rather than the marginal sinus or the vasculature in the white pulp, which indicates a critical role for the splenic red pulp in this regulated trafficking.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vascular adhesion protein-1 is actively involved in the development of inflammatory lesions in rat models of multiple sclerosis.
Petri Elo,Sina Tadayon,Sina Tadayon,Heidi Liljenbäck,Jarmo Teuho,Jarmo Teuho,Meeri Käkelä,Kalle Koskensalo,Virva Saunavaara,Jenni Virta,Tibor Z. Veres,Aida Kiviniemi,Aida Kiviniemi,Antti Saraste,Päivi Marjamäki,Laura Airas,Laura Airas,Sirpa Jalkanen,Anne Roivainen,Anne Roivainen +19 more
TL;DR: It is revealed that VAP-1 is expressed and functionally active in vasculature within the induced focal EAE lesions during the acute phase of inflammation and remains expressed after the acute inflammation has subsided.
Journal ArticleDOI
Melanocortin 1 Receptor Deficiency in Hematopoietic Cells Promotes the Expansion of Inflammatory Leukocytes in Atherosclerotic Mice
TL;DR: In this article, the specific contribution of leukocyte MC1-R to the development of atherosclerosis was investigated in male Apoe-/- mice, which were irradiated, received bone marrow from either Apoe−/- mice or MC1−R deficient Apoe − (Apoe− Mc1re/e) mice.
