Werring,Chandrashekar Hoskote,Hans Rolf Jäger,Hans Rolf Jäger,Hadi Manji,Hadi Manji,Michael S. Zandi,Michael S. Zandi +74 more
TL;DR: A case series of 43 patients with neurological complications of SARS-CoV-2 infection includes encephalopathies, encephalitis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis with haemorrhagic change, transverse myelitis, ischaemic stroke, and Guillain-Barré syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Platelet function testing in transient ischaemic attack and ischaemic stroke: A comprehensive systematic review of the literature
Soon Tjin Lim,Catherine A. Coughlan,Stephen J.X. Murphy,Israel Fernandez-Cadenas,Joan Montaner,Vincent Thijs,Lars Marquardt,Dominick J. H. McCabe +7 more
TL;DR: Large, adequately-sized, prospective multicentre collaborative studies are urgently needed to determine whether comprehensive assessment of HTPR at high and low shear stress with a range of user-friendly whole blood platelet function testing platforms improves the ability to predict the risk of recurrent vascular events in CVD patients, and thus enhance secondary prevention following TIA or ischaemic stroke.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increased platelet count and reticulated platelets in recently symptomatic versus asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis and in cerebral microembolic signal-negative patient subgroups: results from the HaEmostasis In carotid STenosis (HEIST) study.
Stephen J.X. Murphy,Soon Tjin Lim,Justin A. Kinsella,D. Murphy,H. M. Enright,Dominick J. H. McCabe +5 more
TL;DR: The combination of increased platelet counts and a shift towards production of an increased population of larger, young, reticulated platelets could contribute to a higher risk of first or recurrent cerebrovascular events in recently symptomatic versus asymptomatic carotid stenosis, including those who are MES−ve.
Journal ArticleDOI
Platelet function/reactivity testing and prediction of risk of recurrent vascular events and outcomes after TIA or ischaemic stroke: systematic review and meta-analysis.
Soon Tjin Lim,Soon Tjin Lim,Vincent Thijs,Stephen J.X. Murphy,Israel Fernandez-Cadenas,Joan Montaner,Chika Offiah,Lars Marquardt,Peter J. Kelly,Philip M.W. Bath,Su-Yin Lim,Gary A. Ford,Bo Norrving,Dermot Cox,Calin I. Prodan,Philip A. Barber,David J. Werring,Richard J. Perry,Lina Zgaga,Jesse Dawson,Dominick J. H. McCabe +20 more
TL;DR: Antiplatelet–HTPR may predict risks of recurrent vascular events/outcomes in CVD patients and further prospective, multi-centre studies are warranted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical outcomes and a high prevalence of abnormalities on comprehensive arterial and venous thrombophilia screening in TIA or ischaemic stroke patients with a patent foramen ovale, an inter-atrial septal aneurysm or both.
Soon Tjin Lim,Stephen J.X. Murphy,Deirdre R. Smith,Jennifer Williams,Silvia Gil Navarro,John McCabe,David P. Moore,Johnny McHugh,Dominick J. H. McCabe +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the optimal management of cryptogenic TIA/stroke patients with a patent foramen ovale (PFO)± inter-atrial septal aneurysm (IASA), especially with an inherited thrombophilia, was analyzed.
