Journal ArticleDOI
The Pheno- and Genotypic Characterization of Porcine Escherichia coli Isolates.
Tanja Bernreiter-Hofer,Lukas Schwarz,Elke Müller,Adriana Cabal-Rosel,Maciej Korus,Dusan Misic,Katrin Frankenfeld,Kerstin Abraham,Olivia M. Grünzweil,Astrid Weiss,Andrea T. Feßler,Franz Allerberger,Stefan Schwarz,Michael P. Szostak,Werner Ruppitsch,Andrea Ladinig,Joachim Spergser,Sascha D. Braun,Stefan Monecke,Ralf Ehricht,Igor Loncaric +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a total of 102 E. coli isolates of diseased pigs were characterized by antimicrobial and biocide susceptibility testing, including mobile colistin resistance genes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microarray-based detection of resistance genes in coagulase-negative staphylococci isolated from cattle and buffalo with mastitis in Egypt
Maged El-Ashker,Mayada Gwida,Stefan Monecke,Stefan Monecke,Ralf Ehricht,Ralf Ehricht,Mona Elsayed,Fatma A. El-Gohary,Annett Reißig,Elke Müller,Akinduti Paul,Etinosa O. Igbinosa,Abeni Beshiru,Sven Maurischat +13 more
TL;DR: The majority of investigated CoNS strains displayed considerably low prevalence of resistance genes, while resistance to more than three antibiotics was found in S. haemolyticus and S. warneri .
Journal ArticleDOI
Short communication: Diversity of staphylococci isolated from sheep mastitis in northern Algeria.
Rachid Achek,Hosny El-Adawy,Hosny El-Adawy,Helmut Hotzel,Herbert Tomaso,Ralf Ehricht,Taha Mossadak Hamdi,Omar Azzi,Stefan Monecke +8 more
TL;DR: Results on different aspects about staphylococci in Algerian sheep populations should at least partially close that gap, however, further extensive studies covering more geographical regions are needed to assess the epidemiological risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fatal varicella zoster virus infection as first manifestation of idiopathic CD4+ T-cell lymphocytopenia.
TL;DR: A case of fatal progression of primary VZV infection in a patient with a post-mortem diagnosis of ICL is described, characterized by spread of the exanthema, development of a hemorrhagic, necrotizing pneumonia and septic shock.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microarray Analysis of Group B Streptococci Causing Invasive Neonatal Early- and Late-Onset Infection.
TL;DR: The molecular epidemiology of a large collection of invasive neonatal infections showed similar distributions, as shown in smaller cohorts before, and the microarray used proved to be a fast and reliable technique.
