Journal ArticleDOI

Cytotoxicity of Zr-based bulk metallic glasses

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of surface modification (treatment with nitric acid and oxygen plasma) on the alloy's cytotoxicity was investigated and compared with the results for a Ni-bearing Zr-based bulk metallic glass.
Journal ArticleDOI

Deformation behavior of silver submicrometer-pillars prepared by nanoimprinting

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used displacement-controlled compression tests on 130 silver pillars with diameters of 130-3000 nm to investigate the influence of fabrication process on the mechanical properties of the samples.
Journal ArticleDOI

Metal direct nanoimprinting for photonics

TL;DR: In this paper, metal direct nanoimprinting (embossing) for the production of metallic microparts is discussed, with a main focus on its suitability for the fabrication of metal-containing optical devices such as photonic crystals, plasmon waveguides or chiral structures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Deformation behavior of gold nano-pillars prepared by nanoimprinting and focused ion-beam milling

TL;DR: In this article, the deformation behavior of polycrystalline gold pillars with diameters in the 150-1000nm range was investigated at room temperature by compression testing, and weibull statistics were used to analyze the distribution of strength levels, and a minimum in experimental scatter was identified at intermediate pillar size.
Journal ArticleDOI

Silver high-aspect-ratio micro- and nanoimprinting for optical applications

TL;DR: In this paper, a dense silver-pillar arrays with diameters down to 140 nm, aspect ratios up to 13, and excellent uniformity over large areas were fabricated using Si-Ag photonic crystals.
