Spatiotemporal airy light bullets in the linear and nonlinear regimes.
Daryoush Abdollahpour,Daryoush Abdollahpour,S. Suntsov,Dimitrios G. Papazoglou,Dimitrios G. Papazoglou,Stelios Tzortzakis +5 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the Airy(3) light bullets are robust up to the high intensity regime, since they are capable of healing the nonlinearly induced distortions of their spatiotemporal profile.
Journal ArticleDOI
Observation of abruptly autofocusing waves
Dimitrios G. Papazoglou,Nikolaos K. Efremidis,Demetrios N. Christodoulides,Stelios Tzortzakis +3 more
TL;DR: This paper reports on the experimental observation of abruptly autofocusing waves, a family of wave packets realized by using a radially symmetric Airy intensity distribution that can exhibit unusual features, such as the ability to autofocus by following a parabolic trajectory toward their focus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Optically Implemented Broadband Blueshift Switch in the Terahertz Regime
Nian-Hai Shen,Maria Massaouti,Mutlu Gokkavas,Jean-Michel Manceau,Ekmel Ozbay,Maria Kafesaki,Thomas Koschny,Stelios Tzortzakis,Costas M. Soukoulis,Costas M. Soukoulis +9 more
TL;DR: It is experimentally demonstrated, for the first time, an optically implemented blueshift tunable metamaterial in the terahertz (THz) regime that is compatible with semiconductor technologies and can be used for other applications in the THz regime.
Journal ArticleDOI
Laser‐Driven Strong‐Field Terahertz Sources
Jozsef A. Fulop,Stelios Tzortzakis,Stelios Tzortzakis,Stelios Tzortzakis,Tobias Kampfrath,Tobias Kampfrath +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, an overview of the approximate spectral coverage and the achieved highest pulse energies and peak electric and magnetic field strengths of various laser-driven technologies is given in Figure 1.
Journal ArticleDOI
Observation of extremely efficient terahertz generation from mid-infrared two-color laser filaments
Anastasios D. Koulouklidis,Claudia Gollner,Valentina Shumakova,Vladimir Yu. Fedorov,Vladimir Yu. Fedorov,Audrius Pugžlys,Andrius Baltuška,Stelios Tzortzakis,Stelios Tzortzakis,Stelios Tzortzakis +9 more
TL;DR: Efficient sub-cycle THz pulse generation by using two-color midinfrared femtosecond laser filaments in ambient air using affordable table-top laser systems is experimentally demonstrated.
