Journal ArticleDOI
An Optimized Blockwise Nonlocal Means Denoising Filter for 3-D Magnetic Resonance Images
TL;DR: The results show that the optimized NL-means filter outperforms the classical implementation of the NL- means filter, as well as two other classical denoising methods and total variation minimization process in terms of accuracy with low computation time.
Book ChapterDOI
Block Matching: A General Framework to Improve Robustness of Rigid Registration of Medical Images
TL;DR: This approach, besides its simplicity, provides a robust and efficient way to rigidly register images in various situations, and can easily be implemented on a parallel architecture, which opens potentialities for real time applications using a large number of processors.
Book ChapterDOI
Rician Noise Removal by Non-Local Means Filtering for Low Signal-to-Noise Ratio MRI: Applications to DT-MRI
Nicolas Wiest-Daesslé,Sylvain Prima,Pierrick Coupé,Sean Patrick Morrissey,Christian Barillot +4 more
TL;DR: This adaptation outperforms the original NLMeans filter in terms of peak-signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) for DW-MRI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Computation of the mid-sagittal plane in 3-D brain images
TL;DR: A new method to automatically compute, reorient, and recenter the mid-sagittal plane in anatomical and functional three-dimensional (3-D) brain images, which is fast and accurate, even for strongly tilted heads, and even in presence of high acquisition noise and bias field.
Journal ArticleDOI
The DTI Challenge: Toward Standardized Evaluation of Diffusion Tensor Imaging Tractography for Neurosurgery
Sonia Pujol,William M. Wells,Carlo Pierpaoli,C. Brun,James C. Gee,Guang Cheng,Baba C. Vemuri,Olivier Commowick,Sylvain Prima,Aymeric Stamm,Maged Goubran,Ali R. Khan,Terry M. Peters,Peter F. Neher,Klaus H. Maier-Hein,Yundi Shi,Antonio Tristán-Vega,Gopalkrishna Veni,Ross T. Whitaker,Martin Styner,Carl-Fredrik Westin,Sylvain Gouttard,Isaiah Norton,Laurent Chauvin,Hatsuho Mamata,Guido Gerig,Arya Nabavi,Alexandra J. Golby,Ron Kikinis +28 more
TL;DR: This empirical study was to evaluate different tractography techniques in the first DTI Challenge workshop, an international working group of clinicians and scientists whose goal was to provide standardized evaluation of tractography methods for neurosurgery.
