Plasma levels of cytokines and soluble cytokine receptors in psychiatric patients upon hospital admission: effects of confounding factors and diagnosis

TL;DR: It is concluded that, if confounding factors are carefully taken into account, plasma levels of the above mentioned cytokines and cytokine receptors yield little, if any, evidence for immunopathology in schizophrenia or major depression.
Journal ArticleDOI

L-Dopa Therapy of Uremic and Idiopathic Restless Legs Syndrome: A Double-Blind, Crossover Trial

TL;DR: It is concluded that L-dopa 100-200 mg proved to be effective in idiopathic RLS and for the first time under controlled conditions in uremic R LS without any severe side effects.
Journal ArticleDOI

Brain activation and hypothalamic functional connectivity during human non-rapid eye movement sleep: an EEG/fMRI study.

TL;DR: A specific pattern of decreased brain activity during sleep is described and it is suggested that this pattern must be synchronized for establishing and maintaining sleep.
Journal ArticleDOI

Body Weight and Leptin Plasma Levels During Treatment With Antipsychotic Drugs

TL;DR: Weight gain induced by clozapine or olanzapine appears to be associated with an increase in leptin level that cannot be attributed to dietary changes upon hospitalization, and this level remained stable in patients who received haloperidol or no pharmacological treatment.
