Journal ArticleDOI

Box-Cox Transformation and Random Regression Models for Fecal egg Count Data.

TL;DR: Results indicated that the transformation of FEC data utilizing the Box–Cox transformation family was effective in reducing the skewness and kurtosis, and dramatically increased estimates of heritability, and measurements of FEC obtained in the period between 12 and 26 weeks in a 26-week experimental challenge period are genetically correlated.
Journal Article

Fetal losses and pathologic findings of clones derived from serum-starved versus serum-fed bovine ovarian granulosa cells.

TL;DR: The use of serum fed granulosa cells for nuclear transfer was coincident with a high incidence of third trimester losses associated with hydrallantois and fetal oversize and development of clones derived from serum-fed cells through placentation and differentiation was not predictive of competency to term.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of quantitative trait loci affecting gastrointestinal parasite resistance in an experimental Angus population

TL;DR: Findings were unique for cattle, and some corresponded to previously identified QTL locations for parasite-related traits in sheep to provide genome locations for further fine mapping of parasite resistance/susceptibility in Angus cattle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Porcine erythropoietin receptor: molecular cloning and expression in embryonic and fetal liver

TL;DR: The full coding sequence for porcine erythropoietin receptor (EPOR) was elucidated using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and 3' and 5' rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) procedures and it was inferred that a major and two minor forms of mRNA are present.
