Topographical localization of the Onuf's nuclear neurons innervating the rectal and vesical striated sphincter muscles: a retrograde fluorescent double labeling in cat and dog.
TL;DR: With this technique, the neurons innervating the different muscles can be demonstrated simultaneously and in both cats and dogs neurons labeled with PI were concentrated dorsomedially in Onuf's nucleus, while those labeled with BB were concentrated ventrolaterally.
Journal ArticleDOI
Controlled trial of thyrotropin releasing hormone tartrate in ataxia of spinocerebellar degenerations
Itsuro Sobue,Tetsuya Takayanagi,Takao Nakanishi,Tadao Tsubaki,Masanori Uono,Masao Kinoshita,Akihiro Igata,Motoji Miyazaki,Mitsuo Yoshida,Kazuya Ando,Shoichi Maruyama,Terunori Mitsuma,Noriyuki Nihei,Akira Sakuma,Kyoichi Kato +14 more
TL;DR: TRH-T treatment was significantly more effective than placebo for disorders of standing, gait, speech and writing and in the patients who had no pyramidal involvement or disorder of deep sensation, the drug efficacy and dose-response relationship were evident.
Journal ArticleDOI
Origins of short latency somatosensory evoked potentials to median nerve stimulation
TL;DR: Evidences obtained from both normal subjects and patients suggest the following origins for these short latency SEPs; P1 may arise in the brachial plexus just beneath the clavicle, P2 in the cervical dorsal column, P3 mainly in the caudal brain stem, and P4 primarily in the brain stem lemniscal pathways and partly in the thalamus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Familial mitochondrial myopathy associated with peripheral neuropathy: Partial deficiencies of complex I and complex IV
Hidehiro Mizusawa,Masahiko Watanabe,Ichiro Kanazawa,Takao Nakanishi,Masanori Kobayashi,Masashi Tanaka,Hiroshi Suzuki,Morimitsu Nishikimi,Takayuki Ozawa +8 more
TL;DR: Two brothers, 46 and 48 years old, presented with optic atrophy and blepharoptosis since childhood, and later developed muscle wasting and weakness of the extremities, and glove and stocking type sensory impairment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Subacute leucoencephalopathy induced by carmofur, a 5-fluorouracil derivative.
TL;DR: Three cases of leucoencephalopathy induced by carmofur (1-hexylcarbamoyl-5-fluorouracil), an antineoplastic derivative of 5-fluorosilicate are reported and the literature is reviewed.
