Thermoelectric performance of a metastable thin-film Heusler alloy

TL;DR: A high intrinsic thermoelectric figure of merit is found for a metastable thin-film Fe2V0.8W0.2Al Heusler alloy, which may arise from a large differential density of states at the Fermi level and a Weyl-like electron dispersion close to the Fermani level, which indicates a high mobility of charge carriers owing to linear crossing in the electronic bands.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improvement of the laser flash method to reduce uncertainty in thermal diffusivity measurements

TL;DR: The National Metrology Institute of Japan (NMIJ) has improved the laser flash technique to reduce uncertainty in thermal diffusivity measurements of solid materials above room temperature as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lattice thermal conductivity of MgSiO3 perovskite and post-perovskite at the core–mantle boundary

TL;DR: In this paper, the lattice component of thermal diffusivity, heat transport by scattering of phonons, of both MgSiO 3 perovskite (Pv) and post-perovskitic (PPv) at high pressures of up to 144 GPa and at room temperature was measured.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thermal transport properties of polycrystalline tin-doped indium oxide films

TL;DR: In this article, the thermal diffusivity of polycrystalline tin-doped indium oxide (ITO) films with a thickness of 200 nm has been characterized quantitatively by sub-nanosecond laser pulse irradiation and thermoreflectance measurement.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Laser Flash Apparatus for Thermal Diffusivity and Specific Heat Capacity Measurements

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a laser flash apparatus for simultaneous measurements of thermal diffusivity and specific heat capacity of solid materials by introducing recent technical progress: uniform heating by a homogenized laser beam using an optical fiber with a mode mixer, measuring transient temperature of a specimen with a calibrated radiation thermometer, analyzing a transient temperature curve with a curve fitting method.
