Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Pacing Chamber and Atrioventricular Delay on Acute Systolic Function of Paced Patients With Congestive Heart Failure
Angelo Auricchio,Christoph Stellbrink,Michael Block,Stefan Sack,Jürgen Vogt,Patricia F.A. Bakker,Helmut U. Klein,Andrew P. Kramer,Jiang Ding,Rodney W. Salo,Bruce A. Tockman,Thierry Pochet,Julio C. Spinelli +12 more
TL;DR: In this population of CHF patients with sufficiently wide surface QRS benefit from atrial-synchronous ventricular pacing, LV stimulation is required for maximum acute benefit, and the maximum benefit at any site occurs with a patient-specific AV delay.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of cardiac resynchronization therapy using hemodynamically optimized pacing on left ventricular remodeling in patients with congestive heart failure and ventricular conduction disturbances.
Christoph Stellbrink,O.A. Breithardt,Andreas Franke,Stefan Sack,Patricia F.A. Bakker,Angelo Auricchio,Thierry Pochet,Rod Salo,Andrew P. Kramer,Julio C. Spinelli +9 more
TL;DR: Cardiac resynchronization therapy may lead to a reduction in LV volumes in patients with advanced HF and conduction disturbances, and volume nonresponders have significantly higher baseline LVEDV.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardioverter defibrillator implantation without induction of ventricular fibrillation: a single-blind, non-inferiority, randomised controlled trial (SIMPLE)
Jeff S. Healey,Stefan H. Hohnloser,Michael Glikson,Jörg Neuzner,P. Mabo,Xavier Viñolas,Josef Kautzner,Gilles O'Hara,Lieselot VanErven,Fredrik Gadler,Janice Pogue,Ursula Appl,Jim Gilkerson,Thierry Pochet,Kenneth M. Stein,Béla Merkely,Susan Chrolavicius,Brandi Meeks,Csaba Foldesi,Bernard Thibault,Stuart J. Connolly +20 more
TL;DR: Routine defibrillation testing at the time of ICD implantation is generally well tolerated, but does not improve shock efficacy or reduce arrhythmic death.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transvenous biventricular pacing for heart failure: can the obstacles be overcome?
Angelo Auricchio,Helmut U. Klein,Bruce A. Tockman,Stefan Sack,Christoph Stellbrink,Jörg Neuzner,Andrew P. Kramer,Jiang Ding,Thierry Pochet,Albert Maarse,Julio C. Spinelli +10 more
TL;DR: A new transvenous lead system based on an over-the-wire design appears to solve many of these problems and has proved feasible in acute clinical studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acute effects of cardiac resynchronization therapy on left ventricular Doppler indices in patients with congestive heart failure.
Ole-A Breithardt,Christoph Stellbrink,Andreas Franke,Osman Balta,Björn Diem,Patricia F.A. Bakker,Stefan Sack,Angelo Auricchio,Thierry Pochet,Rodney W. Salo +9 more
TL;DR: CRT improves hemodynamic performance in patients with heart failure with intraventricular conduction delays, and FT, AO(VTI), and MPI are useful parameters for noninvasive follow-up and optimization of pacing parameters.
