High performance light water reactor
D. Squarer,Thomas Schulenberg,D. Struwe,Yoshiaki Oka,Dietmar Bittermann,N. Aksan,Csaba Maráczy,R. Kyrki-Rajamäki,A. Souyri,P. Dumaz +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an economic feasibility assessment of a high performance light water reactor (HPLWR) under the co-sponsorship of the European Commission and the University of Tokyo.
Journal ArticleDOI
Three pass core design proposal for a high performance light water reactor
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a core concept for a nuclear reactor cooled with supercritical water, in which the coolant is heated up from 280 °C at the reactor inlet to 500 Â c at the outlet in four steps: a first heat-up step is provided by heat transfer from fuel assemblies to the moderator water in gaps and moderator boxes, a second step is foreseen in a central "evaporator" and two further steps in a first and a second superheater surrounding it.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stability analysis of a uniformly heated channel with supercritical water
TL;DR: In this article, the thermal-hydraulic stability of a uniformly heated channel at supercritical water pressure has been investigated to help understand the system instability phenomena which may occur in super-critical water nuclear reactors (SCWRs).
Journal ArticleDOI
Fuel assembly design study for a reactor with supercritical water
TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed design of a fuel assembly of a high performance light water Reactor (HPLWR) has been presented, where the authors show that a square fuel assembly with two rows of fuel rods and a central moderator box is best to minimize the structural material, to optimize the moderator to fuel ratio and to reduce differences of fuel rod power.
Journal ArticleDOI
European supercritical water cooled reactor
Thomas Schulenberg,Jörg Starflinger,P. Marsault,Dietmar Bittermann,Csaba Maráczy,Eckart Laurien,J.A. Lycklama à Nijeholt,Henryk Anglart,Michele Andreani,M. Ruzickova,Aki Toivonen +10 more
TL;DR: The High Performance Light Water Reactor (HPLWR) as mentioned in this paper is a pressure vessel type reactor operated with supercritical water at 25MPa feedwater pressure and 500°C average core outlet temperature.
