Jacov Levy,Teresa Espanol-Boren,Carolin Thomas,Alain Fischer,Pier-Angelo Tovo,Pierre Bordigoni,Igor B. Resnick,Anders Fasth,Maija Baer,Lina Gomez,E.A.M. Sanders,Marie-Dominique Tabone,Dominique Plantaz,Amos Etzioni,V. Monafo,Mario Abinun,Lennart Hammarström,Tore G. Abrahamsen,Allison Jones,Adam Finn,Timo Klemola,Esther DeVries,Ozden Sanal,Manuel C. Peitsch,Luigi D. Notarangelo +24 more
TL;DR: Although lymphocyte counts and in vitro proliferation to mitogens were normal, a defective in vitro proliferative response to antigens was observed in some patients, and additional defects of cell-mediated immunity may be presumed on the basis of current knowledge of CD40-ligand function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Superior relative efficacy of live attenuated influenza vaccine compared with inactivated influenza vaccine in young children with recurrent respiratory tract infections
Shai Ashkenazi,André Vertruyen,Javier Arístegui,Susanna Esposito,David Douglas McKeith,Timo Klemola,Jiri Biolek,Joachim Kühr,Tadeusz Bujnowski,Daniel Desgrandchamps,Sheau-Mei Cheng,Jonathan Skinner,William C. Gruber,Bruce D. Forrest +13 more
TL;DR: CAIV-T was well tolerated in these children with a history of recurrent respiratory tract infections and demonstrated superior relative efficacy compared with TIV in preventing influenza illness.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mutations in the tyrosine phosphatase CD45 gene in a child with severe combined immunodeficiency disease
Chun Kung,Jeanette T. Pingel,Markku Heikinheimo,Markku Heikinheimo,Timo Klemola,Kari Varkila,Lina I. Yoo,Katri Vuopala,Minna Pöyhönen,Matti Uhari,Martin Rogers,Samuel H. Speck,Talal A. Chatila,Matthew L. Thomas +13 more
TL;DR: CD45 deficiency in humans results in T- and B-lymphocyte dysfunction, and a male patient with a deficiency in CD45 due to a large deletion at one allele and a point mutation at the other is identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of the efficacy and safety of live attenuated cold-adapted influenza vaccine, trivalent, with trivalent inactivated influenza virus vaccine in children and adolescents with asthma.
Douglas M. Fleming,Pietro Crovari,Ulrich Wahn,Timo Klemola,Yechiel Schlesinger,Alexangros Langussis,Knut Øymar,Maria Luz Garcia,Alain Krygier,Herculano Costa,Ulrich Heininger,Jean-Louis Pregaldien,Sheau-Mei Cheng,Jonathan Skinner,Ahmad Razmpour,Melanie K. Saville,William C. Gruber,Bruce D. Forrest +17 more
TL;DR: CAIV-T had a significantly greater relative efficacy compared with TIV in this high-risk population of asthmatic children, and was well tolerated in children and adolescents with asthma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Wheat ω-5 gliadin is a major allergen in children with immediate allergy to ingested wheat☆☆☆
Kati Palosuo,E. Varjonen,Outi-Maria Kekki,Timo Klemola,Nisse Kalkkinen,Harri Alenius,Timo Reunala +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined whether children with allergic reactions to ingested wheat have IgE antibodies to ω-5 gliadin (Tri a 19) by means of ELISA.
