Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical spectrum of X-linked hyper-IgM syndrome
Jacov Levy,Teresa Espanol-Boren,Carolin Thomas,Alain Fischer,Pier-Angelo Tovo,Pierre Bordigoni,Igor B. Resnick,Anders Fasth,Maija Baer,Lina Gomez,E.A.M. Sanders,Marie-Dominique Tabone,Dominique Plantaz,Amos Etzioni,V. Monafo,Mario Abinun,Lennart Hammarström,Tore G. Abrahamsen,Allison Jones,Adam Finn,Timo Klemola,Esther DeVries,Ozden Sanal,Manuel C. Peitsch,Luigi D. Notarangelo +24 more
TL;DR: Although lymphocyte counts and in vitro proliferation to mitogens were normal, a defective in vitro proliferative response to antigens was observed in some patients, and additional defects of cell-mediated immunity may be presumed on the basis of current knowledge of CD40-ligand function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical, Immunological, and Molecular Analysis in a Large Cohort of Patients with X-Linked Agammaglobulinemia: An Italian Multicenter Study
Alessandro Plebani,Annarosa Soresina,Roberto Rondelli,G. M. Amato,Chiara Azzari,Fabio Cardinale,Gianantonio Cazzola,Rita Consolini,Domenico De Mattia,Grazia Dell'Erba,Marzia Duse,Maurilia Fiorini,Silvana Martino,Baldassarre Martire,Massimo Masi,V. Sciotto,Achille Stabile +27 more
TL;DR: Sistemic infections such as sepsis and meningitis/meningoencephalitis decreased over follow-up, probably due to optimal protection provided by high circulating IgG levels reached with IVIG.
Journal ArticleDOI
CD40lbase: a database of CD40L gene mutations causing X-linked hyper-IgM syndrome.
Luigi D. Notarangelo,Manuel C. Peitsch,Tore G. Abrahamsen,Colette Bachelot,Pierre Bordigoni,Andrew J. Cant,Helen Chapel,Mauritio Clementi,Sarah Deacock,Geneviève de Saint Basile,Marzia Duse,Teresa Espanol,Amos Etzioni,Anders Fasth,Alain Fischer,Silvia Giliani,Lina Gomez,Lennart Hammarström,Alison L Jones,Maria Kanariou,Christine Kinnon,Timo Klemola,Richard A. Ochs,Mary Ellen Conley,M. Iseki,Narayanaswamy Ramesh,Mitsunobu Shimadzu,Osamu Saiki +41 more
TL;DR: A database (CD40Lbase) of CD40L mutations has now been established, and the resultant information, together with other mutations reported elsewhere in the literature, is presented here.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serum IgG subclass concentrations in healthy subjects at different age: age normal percentile charts.
A Plebani,A. G. Ugazio,Maria Antonietta Avanzini,P. Massimi,Laura Attinia Zonta,V. Monafo,Giuseppe Roberto Burgio +6 more
TL;DR: IgG subclass levels were determined in 448 normal children from 6 months to 18 years of age and in 141 healthy adults by radial immunodiffusion using monoclonal antibodies as well as in adults for all four subclasses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Selective IgA deficiency: clinical and immunological evaluation of 50 pediatric patients.
TL;DR: Most children with complete deficiency of IgA had recurrent respiratory and/or gastrointestinal infections, about half with onset in the first year of life, while partial deficiency has probably little if any importance for anti-infectious immunity but is important in the pathogenesis of atopy.
