Journal ArticleDOI
Electrical control of optical emitter relaxation pathways enabled by graphene
Klaas-Jan Tielrooij,Lucas Orona,Alban Ferrier,Alban Ferrier,Michela Badioli,Gabriele Navickaite,Simon Coop,Sebastien Nanot,Boris Kalinic,Tiziana Cesca,Louis Gaudreau,Qiong Ma,Alba Centeno,Amaia Pesquera,Amaia Zurutuza,H. de Riedmatten,Philippe Goldner,F. J. García de Abajo,Pablo Jarillo-Herrero,Frank H. L. Koppens +19 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that graphene can be used to manipulate the optical emission and relaxation of erbium near-infrared emitters electrically, which can be applied to control the relaxation process of light-emitting excited ions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Local-field enhancement effect on the nonlinear optical response of gold-silver nanoplanets
TL;DR: A dramatic decrease of the intensity-dependent absorption coefficient is found in the Au-Ag nanoplanet configuration, which could be very promising for obtaining optical gain materials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oxidation effects on the SERS response of silver nanoprism arrays
Niccolò Michieli,Roberto Pilot,Valentina Russo,Carlo Scian,Francesco Todescato,Raffaella Signorini,Stefano Agnoli,Tiziana Cesca,Renato Bozio,Giovanni Mattei +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of oxidation on the SERS response of a peculiar kind of Ag nanostructured substrates, i.e., bi-dimensional ordered arrangements of Ag nanoprisms synthesized by nanosphere lithography, were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enhancement of the Er 3 + luminescence in Er-doped silica by few-atom metal aggregates
Chiara Maurizio,Chiara Maurizio,Enrico Trave,Giovanni Perotto,Valentina Bello,Dina Pasqualini,Paolo Mazzoldi,Giancarlo Battaglin,Tiziana Cesca,Carlo Scian,Giovanni Mattei +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the mechanisms of photoluminescence enhancement induced by ultrasmall Au nanoclusters (made by less than 20 atoms) incorporated by low-fluence ion implantation into Er-doped silica are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Laser-irradiation effects during Z-scan measurement on metal nanocluster composite glasses
Giancarlo Battaglin,Paolo Calvelli,Elti Cattaruzza,Riccardo Polloni,E. Borsella,Tiziana Cesca,Francesco Gonella,Paolo Mazzoldi +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the role of laser-composite interaction effects in the analyses is discriminated, and a phenomenological model is proposed that effectively reproduces the experimental findings, and spatially modulated reduction of both the linear refractive index and the absorbance are suggested as the mechanisms responsible for the observed transmittance Z-scan curves.
