Journal ArticleDOI
Meta-analysis of randomized trials on drug-eluting stents vs. bare-metal stents in patients with acute myocardial infarction
Adnan Kastrati,Alban Dibra,Christian Spaulding,Gerrit J Laarman,Maurizio Menichelli,Marco Valgimigli,Emilio Di Lorenzo,Christoph Kaiser,Ilkka Tierala,Julinda Mehilli,Melchior Seyfarth,Olivier Varenne,Maurits T. Dirksen,Gianfranco Percoco,Attilio Varricchio,Undine Pittl,Mikko Syvänne,Maarten J. Suttorp,Roberto Violini,Albert Schömig +19 more
TL;DR: The use of drug-eluting stents in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction is safe and improves clinical outcomes by reducing the risk of reintervention compared with bare-metal stents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Efficacy and safety of drug-eluting stents in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction: A meta-analysis of randomized trials
Giuseppe De Luca,Gregg W. Stone,Harry Suryapranata,Gerrit J Laarman,Maurizio Menichelli,Christoph Kaiser,Marco Valgimigli,Emilio Di Lorenzo,Maurits T. Dirksen,Christian Spaulding,Undine Pittl,Roberto Violini,Gianfranco Percoco,Paolo Marino +13 more
TL;DR: This meta-analysis shows that among selected STEMI patients undergoing primary angioplasty, SES and PES, as compared to BMS, are safe and associated with a significant reduction in TVR at 1 and 2 years follow-up.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stent thrombosis up to 3 years after stenting for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction versus for stable angina--comparison of the effects of drug-eluting versus bare-metal stents.
Gregor Leibundgut,Fabian Nietlispach,Undine Pittl,Hans-Peter Brunner-La Rocca,Christoph Kaiser,Matthias Pfisterer +5 more
TL;DR: An increased rate of late ST and a trend to more related clinical events in patients after stenting for STEMI vs for stable angina, particularly if treated with DES are observed, which may explain outcome differences between results of pivotal trials in stable patients vs those of "real-world" patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Short and long-term benefits of sirolimus-eluting stent in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction: a meta-analysis of randomized trials
Giuseppe De Luca,Marco Valgimigli,Christian Spaulding,Maurizio Menichelli,Hans-Peter Brunner-La Rocca,Bas L. van der Hoeven,Emilio Di Lorenzo,Luis-S. Diaz de la Llera,Vincenzo Pasceri,Undine Pittl,Gianfranco Percoco,Roberto Violini,Gregg W. Stone +12 more
TL;DR: This meta-analysis shows that among selected STEMI patients undergoing primary angioplasty, SES as compared to BMS is safe and associated with a significant reduction in TVR at 1 and 2–3 years follow-up.
Journal Article
Abstract 3468: Clinical Safety and Long-Term Efficacy of Drug Eluting versus Bare Metal Stents in Acute ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction
Undine Pittl,Hans-Peter Brunner-La Rocca,Christoph Kaiser,Piero O. Bonetti,Patrick Hunziker,Andre Linka,Raban Jeger,Stefan Osswald,Peter Buser,M. Pfisterer +9 more
TL;DR: Drug-eluting stents are widely used to reduce intimal hyperplasia and as consequence, the incidence of resorption is reduced and in-stent restenosis is reduced.
