Outcomes associated with drug-eluting and bare-metal stents: a collaborative network meta-analysis
Christoph Stettler,Christoph Stettler,Simon Wandel,Sabin Allemann,Adnan Kastrati,Marie Claude Morice,Albert Schömig,Matthias Pfisterer,Gregg W. Stone,Martin B. Leon,José Suárez de Lezo,Jean-Jacques Goy,Seung-Jung Park,Manel Sabaté,Maarten J. Suttorp,Henning Kelbæk,Christian Spaulding,Maurizio Menichelli,Paul Vermeersch,Maurits T. Dirksen,Pavel Cervinka,Anna Sonia Petronio,Alain J Nordmann,Peter Diem,Bernhard Meier,Marcel Zwahlen,Stephan Reichenbach,Sven Trelle,Stephan Windecker,Peter Jüni,Peter Jüni +30 more
TL;DR: A network meta-analysis with a mixed-treatment comparison method to combine direct within-trial comparisons between stents with indirect evidence from other trials while maintaining randomisation found sirolimus-eluting stents seem to be clinically better than bare-metal and paclitaxel-eluted stents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Paclitaxel-eluting versus uncoated stents in primary percutaneous coronary intervention.
Gerrit J Laarman,Maarten J. Suttorp,Maurits T. Dirksen,Loek van Heerebeek,Ferdinand Kiemeneij,Ton Slagboom,L. Ron van der Wieken,Jan G.P. Tijssen,Benno J. Rensing,Mark S. Patterson +9 more
TL;DR: The use of paclitaxel-eluting stents in acute myocardial infarction with ST-segment elevation reduced the incidence of serious adverse cardiac events at 1 year by 4.0 percentage points, as compared with uncoated stents, but the difference was not statistically significant.
Journal ArticleDOI
Meta-analysis of randomized trials on drug-eluting stents vs. bare-metal stents in patients with acute myocardial infarction
Adnan Kastrati,Alban Dibra,Christian Spaulding,Gerrit J Laarman,Maurizio Menichelli,Marco Valgimigli,Emilio Di Lorenzo,Christoph Kaiser,Ilkka Tierala,Julinda Mehilli,Melchior Seyfarth,Olivier Varenne,Maurits T. Dirksen,Gianfranco Percoco,Attilio Varricchio,Undine Pittl,Mikko Syvänne,Maarten J. Suttorp,Roberto Violini,Albert Schömig +19 more
TL;DR: The use of drug-eluting stents in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction is safe and improves clinical outcomes by reducing the risk of reintervention compared with bare-metal stents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Drug eluting and bare metal stents in people with and without diabetes: collaborative network meta-analysis
Christoph Stettler,Sabin Allemann,Simon Wandel,Adnan Kastrati,Marie Claude Morice,Albert Schömig,Matthias Pfisterer,Gregg W. Stone,Martin B. Leon,José Suárez de Lezo,Jean-Jacques Goy,Seung-Jung Park,Manel Sabaté,Maarten J. Suttorp,Henning Kelbæk,Christian Spaulding,Maurizio Menichelli,Paul Vermeersch,Maurits T. Dirksen,Pavel Cervinka,Marco De Carlo,Andrejs Erglis,Tania Chechi,Paolo Ortolani,Martin J. Schalij,Peter Diem,Bernhard Meier,Stephan Windecker,Peter Jüni +28 more
TL;DR: In trials that specified a duration of dual antiplatelet therapy of six months or more after stent implantation, drug eluting stents seemed safe and effective in people both with and without diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Drug-Eluting vs Bare-Metal Stents in Primary Angioplasty: A Pooled Patient-Level Meta-analysis of Randomized Trials
Giuseppe De Luca,Maurits T. Dirksen,Christian Spaulding,Henning Kelbæk,Martin J. Schalij,Leif Thuesen,Bas L. van der Hoeven,Marteen A. Vink,Christoph Kaiser,Carmine Musto,Tania Chechi,Gaia Spaziani,Luis S. Díaz de la Llera,Vincenzo Pasceri,Emilio Di Lorenzo,Roberto Violini,Giuliana Cortese,Harry Suryapranata,Gregg W. Stone +18 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that among patients with STEMI undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention, sirolimus-eluting and paclitaxel-Eluting stents compared with BMS are associated with a significant reduction in target-vessel revascularization at long-term follow-up.
