Atomic reconstruction in twisted bilayers of transition metal dichalcogenides
Astrid Weston,Yichao Zou,V. V. Enaldiev,V. V. Enaldiev,Alex Summerfield,Nick Clark,Viktor Zólyomi,Abigail J. Graham,Celal Yelgel,Samuel Magorrian,Mingwei Zhou,Johanna Zultak,David G. Hopkinson,Alexei Barinov,Thomas H. Bointon,Andrey V. Kretinin,Neil R. Wilson,Peter H. Beton,Vladimir I. Fal'ko,Sarah J. Haigh,Roman V. Gorbachev +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the lattice reconstruction in twisted bilayers of the transition metal dichalcogenides, MoS2 and WS2, was revealed using atomic-resolution transmission electron microscopy.

TL;DR: Atomic-resolution transmission electron microscopy is used to reveal the lattice reconstruction in twisted bilayers of the transition metal dichalcogenides, MoS 2 and WS 2, showing that such reconstruction creates strong piezoelectric textures, opening a new avenue for engineering of 2D material properties.
Journal ArticleDOI
Broken mirror symmetry in excitonic response of reconstructed domains in twisted MoSe2/MoSe2 bilayers
Ji Ho Sung,You Zhou,Giovanni Scuri,Viktor Zólyomi,Viktor Zólyomi,Trond Andersen,Hyobin Yoo,Hyobin Yoo,Dominik S. Wild,Andrew Y. Joe,Ryan J. Gelly,Hoseok Heo,Samuel Magorrian,Damien Bérubé,Andrés M. Mier Valdivia,Takashi Taniguchi,Kenji Watanabe,Mikhail D. Lukin,Philip Kim,Vladimir I. Fal'ko,Hongkun Park +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of crystal symmetry on the electronic and excitonic properties of a Van der Waals superlattice have been investigated using far-field optics, and it was shown that the AB and BA domains support interlayer excitons with out-of-plane electric dipole moments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stacking domains and dislocation networks in marginally twisted bilayers of transition metal dichalcogenides
V. V. Enaldiev,V. V. Enaldiev,Viktor Zólyomi,Viktor Zólyomi,Celal Yelgel,Celal Yelgel,Samuel Magorrian,Vladimir I. Fal'ko +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a multiscale modeling approach was applied to study lattice reconstruction in marginally twisted bilayers of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMD), and the authors developed density functional theory parametrized interpolation formulae for interlayer adhesion energies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resonance Raman spectroscopy of graphite and graphene
TL;DR: In this paper, the key aspects of Raman spectroscopy of graphite and graphene are reviewed, focusing on the double resonant Raman modes such as the D, D* (also known as G' or 2D), and D' bands.
