TL;DR: A unified theoretical methodology for the modeling of dependent/interdependent infrastructure networks and incorporates it in a six-step probabilistic procedure to assess their resilience and shows the importance of capturing the dependency between networks in modeling the resilience of critical infrastructure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Performance-Based Hurricane Engineering (PBHE) framework
TL;DR: In this article, a performance-based hurricane engineering (PBHE) framework is proposed for risk assessment of structural systems located in hurricane-prone regions. But, the proposed methodology is based on the total probability theorem and disaggregates the risk assessment into elementary components, namely hazard analysis, structural characterization, environment-structure interaction, structural analysis, damage analysis and loss analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Performance-Based Tsunami Engineering methodology for risk assessment of structures
TL;DR: In this paper, a probabilistic performance-based Tsunami Engineering (PBTE) framework based on the total probability theorem is proposed for the risk assessment of structures subject to tsunamis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Methodology for Development of Physics-Based Tsunami Fragilities
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a risk and resilience analysis of coastal regions around the world, where a Tsunami can cause fatalities and catastrophic damage to communities due to its destructive power.
Journal ArticleDOI
Performance-Based Comparison of Different Storm Mitigation Techniques for Residential Buildings
TL;DR: In this article, a performance-based hurricane engineering (PBHE) framework with multilayer Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) is used for the loss analysis of residential buildings subject to hurricane hazard.
