Biomass combustion in fluidized bed boilers: Potential problems and remedies

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the major issues concerned with biomass combustion with special reference to the small scale fluidized bed systems (small to pilot scale). Problems have been identified, mechanisms explained and solutions have been indicated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thermogravimetry as a tool to classify waste components to be used for energy generation

TL;DR: In this article, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) is used to investigate pyrolysis of individual waste components and waste mixtures, based on the measured weight loss characteristics, single waste components are divided into three classes: low stability organic, lignocellulosic and plastic materials.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pyrolysis of Miscanthus Giganteus and wood pellets: TG-FTIR analysis and reaction kinetics☆

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used thermogravimetric analysis with measurement of products by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (TG-FTIR) to characterisation of two biomass fuels (pelletised Miscanthus Giganteus and wood) with measurements of products using means of TFIR, three heating rate profiles were applied (10, 30 and 100°C/min), with a final temperature of 900°C HCN and HNCO were found to be the major N-products.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fluidized Bed Gasification as a Mature And Reliable Technology for the Production of Bio-Syngas and Applied in the Production of Liquid Transportation Fuels—A Review

TL;DR: In this article, the state-of-the-art of the fluidization technology applied for the gasification of biomass aimed at the production of gas for subsequent synthesis of the liquid energy carriers via the Fischer-Tropsch process is reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI

TG-FTIR pyrolysis of coal and secondary biomass fuels: Determination of pyrolysis kinetic parameters for main species and NOx precursors

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the FG-BioMass model for the pyrolysis of secondary biomass fuels with coal in coal-fired pulverized fuel boilers.
