Metal contents in fish and crustaceans from brackish, freshwater and marine systems in south-western nigeria

TL;DR: The results revealed that the general trend of trace elements in the sampled finfish and crustaceans was marine > brackish > freshwater, thus adequate efforts should be placed on the monitoring of effluents that are being discharged into open water bodies in Nigeria.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sex-related response in mice after sub-acute intraperitoneal exposure to silver nanoparticles

TL;DR: Although there were no significant differences in levels of hormones in the AgNP-exposed animals compared to controls, sex-related differences in oxidative stress parameters were observed in all organs and highlight the importance of including the sex- related differences and effects of protein corona in biosafety evaluation of AgNPs exposure.
Journal ArticleDOI

A new mushroom hyperaccumulator: Cadmium and arsenic in the ectomycorrhizal basidiomycete Thelephora penicillata.

TL;DR: In this article , the trace element concentrations of six Thelephora species (Fungi, Basidiomycota, The lephoraceae) were analyzed for their trace element concentration.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long-term arsenic exposure and cancer risk-sensitivity to choice of indicators based on recent and lifetime arsenic intake

TL;DR: P-167 Background:A multi-country case control study of arsenic and cancer was set up to meet a number of concerns: That exposure to low concentration of arsenic could in principle be responsible for a significant proportion of the incidence of some cancers.
