Journal ArticleDOI
Nonconventional luminophores: characteristics, advancements and perspectives.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors review the recent progress in exploring nonconventional luminophores and discuss the current challenges and future perspectives, and highlight the clustering-triggered emission (CTE) mechanism, which emphasizes clustering of electron rich moieties and consequent electron delocalization along with conformation rigidification.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reevaluating Protein Photoluminescence: Remarkable Visible Luminescence upon Concentration and Insight into the Emission Mechanism
Qian Wang,Qian Wang,Xueyu Dou,Xueyu Dou,Xiaohong Chen,Zihao Zhao,Shuang Wang,Shuang Wang,Yunzhong Wang,Kunyan Sui,Yeqiang Tan,Yongyang Gong,Yongming Zhang,Wang Zhang Yuan +13 more
TL;DR: This work revisited protein light emission using bovine serum albumin (BSA) as a model, showing unique concentration-enhanced emission and aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristics, and persistent room-temperature phosphorescence (p-RTP) is achieved even in the amorphous solids under ambient conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Emission mechanism understanding and tunable persistent room temperature phosphorescence of amorphous nonaromatic polymers
TL;DR: In this paper, the emission mechanism of non-conventional luminogens and achieving persistent room temperature phosphorescence (p-RTP) from pure organic compounds have drawn increasing attention due to their significant fundamental importance and promising applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Luminogenic Polyacetylenes and Conjugated Polyelectrolytes: Synthesis, Hybridization with Carbon Nanotubes, Aggregation-Induced Emission, Superamplification in Emission Quenching by Explosives, and Fluorescent Assay for Protein Quantitation
Wang Zhang Yuan,Hui Zhao,Xiao Yuan Shen,Faisal Mahtab,Jacky Wing Yip Lam,Jing Zhi Sun,Ben Zhong Tang,Ben Zhong Tang +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, an aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE) effect was observed in the case of tetraphenylethene (TPE) units 1 and 2, where the TPE-functionalized luminogens are nonemissive in dilute solutions but luminescent as solid aggregates, showing a novel behavior of aggregationinduced emission.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aggregation-induced emission of non-conjugated poly(amido amine)s: Discovering, luminescent mechanism understanding and bioapplication
TL;DR: It is found that the fluorescence of aliphatic poly(amido amine)s including linear and hyperbranched ones can be dramatically enhanced by simple aggregation of polymer chains, attributing to the formation of a variety of intra- and interchain clusters with shared lone-pair electrons and the restriction of intramolecular motions.
