TL;DR: Large well-designed randomised controlled trials with clear descriptions of patients are needed to improve the present recommendations on the treatment of these common syndromes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of volatile compounds emitted by Pseudomonas aeruginosa using selected ion flow tube mass spectrometry.
TL;DR: Hydrogen cyanide gas (HCN) may be a specific indicator of PA infection in vivo, and offers promise as a biomarker for noninvasive detection ofPA infection by breath analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevention of viral induced asthma attacks using inhaled budesonide
Gary Connett,Warren Lenney +1 more
TL;DR: Intermittent inhalation of budesonide can modify the severity of wheezing in preschool children developing asthma after viral respiratory infections but improvements were modest with the doses used in this study.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of budesonide in severe asthmatics aged 1-3 years.
TL;DR: The Nebuhaler and facemask is an acceptable delivery system for long term asthma treatment and symptoms are significantly reduced when it is used to give 400-800 micrograms budesonide/day to children aged 1-3 years who cannot use other delivery systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isoprene levels in the exhaled breath of 200 healthy pupils within the age range 7-18 years studied using SIFT-MS
David Smith,Patrik Španěl,Patrik Španěl,Beth Enderby,Warren Lenney,Claire Turner,Simon J. Davies +6 more
TL;DR: The results reveal that there is a clear increase in the mean breath isoprene concentration with age for the young cohort with a doubling of the level about every 5-6 years until it reaches the age-invariant mean level of that for adult cohort.
