Journal ArticleDOI
Intravenous Injection of Rabbit Apolipoprotein A-I Inhibits the Progression of Atherosclerosis in Cholesterol-Fed Rabbits
Akira Miyazaki,Shin Sakuma,Wataru Morikawa,Takanori Takiue,Fumio Miake,Tsuyoshi Terano,Masakazu Sakai,Hideki Hakamata,Yu-Ichiro Sakamoto,Makoto Naito,Yingmao Ruan,Kiyoshi Takahashi,Takao Ohta,Seikoh Horiuchi +13 more
TL;DR: The present study provided the first evidence for the antiatherogenic effect of homologous and apoA-I on the progression of atherosclerosis in cholesterol-fed rabbits.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acetylated low density lipoprotein reduces its ligand activity for the scavenger receptor after interaction with reconstituted high density lipoprotein.
Akira Miyazaki,Masakazu Sakai,Yoshiko Suginohara,Hideki Hakamata,Yu-Ichiro Sakamoto,Wataru Morikawa,S Horiuchi +6 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated for the first time that lipid modification (change in the lipid moiety) of acetyl-LDL can induce alteration in its apolipoprotein moiety, leading to a significant loss of its biological activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lipoprotein(a) induces cell growth in rat peritoneal macrophages through inhibition of transforming growth factor-β activation
Yoshihiro Sato,Shozo Kobori,Masakazu Sakai,Toshihiro Yano,Takayuki Higashi,Takeshi Matsumura,Wataru Morikawa,Tsuyoshi Terano,Akira Miyazaki,Seikoh Horiuchi,Motoaki Shichiri +10 more
TL;DR: It is evident that Lp(a) induces macrophage growth by inhibiting TGF-beta activation, and the capacity of Lp (a) to stimulate macrophages growth shown here could be novel atherogenic function of LP(a).
Journal ArticleDOI
Reconstituted high density lipoprotein reduces the capacity of oxidatively modified low density lipoprotein to accumulate cholesteryl esters in mouse peritoneal macrophages
Masakazu Sakai,Akira Miyazaki,Hideki Hakamata,Yoshiko Suginohara,Yu-Ichiro Sakamoto,Wataru Morikawa,Shozo Kobori,Motoaki Shichiri,Seikoh Horiuchi +8 more
TL;DR: The ligand activity of ox-LDL for the scavenger receptor was significantly reduced upon treatment with DMPC/apo A-I, and this phenomenon might explain one of the anti-atherogenic functions of HDL.
Journal ArticleDOI
Measurement of Lp(a) with a two-step monoclonal competitive sandwich ELISA method
Wataru Morikawa,Rie Iki,Tsuyoshi Terano,Akinobu Funatsu,Hiroyuki Sugiuchi,Yoshinori Uji,Hiroaki Okabe +6 more
TL;DR: The test method described here is applicable with auto analyzer because it does not require such a pre-dilution step as is necessary for Lp(a) determination by conventional ELISA assay and is workable for both clinical laboratories and mass screening.
