Proceedings ArticleDOI
The CIPRES science gateway: a community resource for phylogenetic analyses
TL;DR: Progress in managing the growth of this public cyberinfrastructure resource is described and the domain science that it has enabled is reviewed.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
The CIPRES science gateway: enabling high-impact science for phylogenetics researchers with limited resources
TL;DR: The results indicate that the CSG is a critical and cost-effective enabler of science for phylogenetic researchers with limited resources, and is meeting an important need for computational resources in the Systematics/Evolutionary Biology community.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phylogenomics of 10,575 genomes reveals evolutionary proximity between domains Bacteria and Archaea.

Al-Ghalith,Evguenia Kopylova,Daniel McDonald,Tomasz Kosciolek,Tomasz Kosciolek,John Yin,Shi Huang,Nimaichand Salam,Jian-Yu Jiao,Zijun Wu,Zhenjiang Zech Xu,Kalen Cantrell,Yimeng Yang,Erfan Sayyari,Maryam Rabiee,James T. Morton,Sheila Podell,Dan Knights,Wen-Jun Li,Curtis Huttenhower,Curtis Huttenhower,Nicola Segata,Larry Smarr,Siavash Mirarab,Rob Knight +32 more
TL;DR: A reference phylogeny of 10,575 evenly-sampled bacterial and archaeal genomes, based on a comprehensive set of 381 markers, is built, providing an updated view of domain-level relationships between Archaea and Bacteria.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Gateways to Discovery: Cyberinfrastructure for the Long Tail of Science
R. L. Moore,Chaitan Baru,Diane Baxter,Geoffrey C. Fox,Amit Majumdar,Phillip Papadopoulos,Wayne Pfeiffer,Robert S. Sinkovits,Shawn Strande,Mahidhar Tatineni,Rick Wagner,Nancy Wilkins-Diehr,Michael L. Norman +12 more
TL;DR: SDSC's Comet system, which is scheduled for production in January 2015 and was designed to address the needs of a much larger and more expansive science community-- the "long tail of science", will have a peak performance of 2 petaflop/s.
Journal ArticleDOI
Whole-genome analysis of mycobacteria from birds at the San Diego Zoo.
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed and applied workflows to identify the mycobacterial species in each DNA sample, to find single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) between samples of the same species, to further differentiate SNPs between as many as three different genotypes within a single sample, and to identify which samples are closely clustered genomically.
